In my opinion, the Gospel of Kingdom of God that Jesus inaugurated is the Sine qua non of all the teachings and taskings of the Savior. “Without this – There is Nothing.”
The first words from Jesus’ lips in public ministry right out of the gate dripping with the urgency of John the Baptists arrest was clear.
Mark 1:14-15
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The Kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Respected scholar Dr. Gordan Fee offered these sobering words:
“You cannot know anything about Jesus, anything, if you miss the kingdom of God . . . You are zero on Jesus if you don’t understand this term. I’m sorry to say it that strongly, but this is the great failure of evangelical Christianity. We have had Jesus without the kingdom of God, and therefore have literally done Jesus in.”
Jesus without the Kingdom. That is not just vanilla ice cream without chocolate syrup – a personal preference. It is more like a car without an engine or an electrical appliance with no place to plug in. Check us out at 100foldministries.org! Dave
