REPLAY OF A WORD OF FAITH

10/18/2026

After two weeks of studying and competing with some of the brightest young minds in the world at Harvard, the Veritas scholars returned to Atlanta as champions once again. Families and friends packed Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to give them a hero's welcome.

This was the program's 8th win at the Harvard Debate Council's International Summer Debate Competition. In nine years, Veritas has sent nine groups of students to Harvard, and eight have come home with the title. Excellence isn't an accident, it's a tradition.

Hard work, preparation and belief truly pay off. Celebrate the young scholars in your community, they're building the future.

In 1967, two Black men walked into the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta as students for the first time in the school's history. They were the whole integration. Just the two of them.

Frank Rumph and John T. Harper Sr. enrolled the year plenty of white Georgia still thought a Black doctor was a contradiction in terms. They sat in the same lectures, took the same exams, and in 1971 they walked out with the same M.D. everybody else got.

Every Black physician trained in Augusta since then is standing on a door those two pried open with nothing but their grades and their nerve.

First is a lonely place to be. Somebody has to stand there anyway.

Who was the first in your family to break into a field that had kept your people out?
