Our prayers are with the family of Milly Lemke. We take comfort in knowing she is with Jesus in heaven, and reunited with her husband, Howard. Revelation 2:10 (ESV): "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life."

View Mildred "Milly" A. (Waack) Lemke's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

1. Pastor J described 'continuing in Christ' as modeling your life after Him in every role and relationship you have. What does that practically look like in one specific area of your life right now?

2. John says God has 'lavished' His love on us by calling us children of God. What does the word 'lavished' suggest to you about the nature of God's love, and how does that change the way you see yourself?

3. Pastor J pointed out that no one truly defines themselves without outside influence. How have the people and experiences in your life shaped your identity, both positively and negatively?

4. If our identity as children of God is meant to make us stand out from the world, where do you find that the hardest to live out? What makes it difficult?

5. Pastor J used the example of his son imitating him out of love. How does love motivate imitation, and what does that tell us about our motivation for following Christ?

6. John warns that the world will not recognize believers because it does not know God. Have you ever experienced being misunderstood or treated as an outsider because of your faith? How did you respond?

7. Pastor J said John does not tell us to give up or conform when things get hard, but to continue. What does perseverance in your identity as a child of God look like during a season of struggle or opposition?

8. How does knowing that your identity comes from God's love rather than from your performance or other people's opinions change the way you approach your daily life?

Thank you to the families for the sacrifice of your loved ones so we can live and proclaim our faith in Jesus who laid down his life so we would not perish but have eternal life.

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

A PRAYER FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Heavenly Father, this weekend our memories go back to those who have died to preserve our nation’s liberties. You raised up brave men and women and gave them the determination to sacrifice everything for us, the citizens of the United States of America. Comfort those who grieve their deaths with your promise that those who die in the Lord will rise again. Move us, the living, to be diligent in our prayers for our nation and her leaders. Help us to be the light that reflects Christ in the way we interact with our fellow citizens, so that many more may know and believe that your sacrifice brings true freedom and everlasting life. In your Son’s name we pray. Amen.
