Dear Friends,

After much prayer and reflection, the Darke County Anglican Church has closed its doors. Though we did not find a flock gathering in this season, we are deeply grateful for the past two years—years filled with friendship, worship, and the quiet work of God in our midst.

Thank you to everyone in the community who supported, encouraged, and prayed for us along the way. Your kindness has meant more than we can say.

𝗧𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀

We see you. We know that walking into church with a baby on your hip or a toddler tugging your sleeve can feel daunting. You worry about the noise, the wiggles, the unexpected outbursts. You wonder if you’ll be a distraction. You wonder if you belong.

But hear this: 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰.

At our church, the sounds of children are not interruptions, they’re signs of life. Their giggles, their cries, their curious questions remind us that the Body of Christ is growing, breathing, and beautifully diverse. We cherish their presence.

You don’t have to send them away. You don’t have to apologize. You are welcome as you are, and so are they.

So bring your babies. Bring your littles. Let them stay beside you. Let them see you worship. Let them hear the Word. Let them be part of the Body of Christ.

Because a church that welcomes children is a church that welcomes Christ.

You are not a disruption. You are a blessing. And we’re saving a seat for you.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿

At the core of Anglican theology is a beautifully balanced framework often called the three-legged stool: Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. It’s not just a metaphor, it’s a method for discerning truth, living faithfully, and engaging thoughtfully with the world.

𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: The first leg is the Word of God, the foundation of our faith. Anglicans hold Scripture as the primary source of divine revelation. It’s not just read, it’s prayed, preached, and lived. But we don’t read it in isolation…

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The second leg is the wisdom of the Church through the ages. From the early Church Fathers to the creeds, liturgies, and practices handed down, Tradition helps us interpret Scripture faithfully and stay rooted in the historic Christian community.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻: The third leg is our God-given intellect. Reason allows us to wrestle with Scripture and Tradition in light of our experiences, science, and moral insight. It’s not about cold logic, it’s about thoughtful engagement, asking: “What does this mean for us today?”

Together, these three uphold Anglican theology like a sturdy stool, each leg essential, each supporting the others. Lean too heavily on one and the balance tips. But when held together, they offer a dynamic, living faith that’s both ancient and responsive.

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲

What if hope wasn’t just a feeling but a Person? What if love wasn’t just an idea but a sacrifice? What if peace wasn’t just a dream but a promise?

The Gospel is more than a message, it’s the heartbeat of heaven breaking into our world. Jesus came not to condemn but to restore, to seek, to save; to bring light into every shadow.

“𝘎𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.” - Mark 16:15

𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲

In the Anglican tradition, beauty is more than aesthetics, it’s theology in form and sound. From the intricate stonework of centuries-old cathedrals to the ethereal harmonies of choral evensong, Anglicanism has cultivated an artistic and musical heritage that speaks to the soul and lifts the heart toward God.

This isn’t beauty for beauty’s sake. It’s a deliberate offering, an echo of the Incarnation, where the divine meets the material. The architecture draws our gaze upward, reminding us of heaven’s grandeur. The music, often rooted in Scripture and prayer, envelops us in sacred rhythm, inviting contemplation and awe.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁
O ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who didst give to thine Apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe and to preach thy Word; Grant, we beseech thee, unto thy Church, to love that Word which he believed, and both to preach and receive the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘯.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝟱:𝟭𝟮-𝟭𝟲 𝗖𝗦𝗕
Many signs and wonders were being done among the people through the hands of the apostles. They were all together in Solomon’s Colonnade. No one else dared to join them, but the people spoke well of them. Believers were added to the Lord in increasing numbers—multitudes of both men and women. As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them. In addition, a multitude came together from the towns surrounding Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘁. 𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝟮𝟮:𝟮𝟰-𝟯𝟬 𝗖𝗦𝗕
Then a dispute also arose among them about who should be considered the greatest. But he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have authority over them have themselves called[a] ‘Benefactors.’ It is not to be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you should become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving. For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn’t it the one at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves. You are those who stood by me in my trials. I bestow on you a kingdom, just as my Father bestowed one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. And you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Despite centuries of theological debate, most Anglicans today affirm the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist not as mere symbol, nor through transubstantiation, but as a true, spiritual, and sacramental presence wrapped in mystery. This view holds that the bread and wine become means of grace to those who receive them in faith, through the work of the Holy Spirit. In keeping with this theology, Anglican practice affirms Communion in both kinds, offering both bread and wine to all baptized Christians of the congregation, not reserving the chalice for clergy alone. This reflects the fullness of Christ’s gift and the shared dignity of the Body of Christ. It honors both the sacredness of the sacrament and the personal nature of divine encounter.

Jesus didn’t just come for those who appear to have it all together. He came for all of us, for the weary, the uncertain, the hurting. For the ones who feel like they’re barely holding on.

And the beautiful truth? You don’t need to clean yourself up or have all the answers to be welcomed by Him.

You’re invited, just as you are with your questions, your doubts, your pain, and your story. Nothing disqualifies you from His love. You don’t have to hide the hard parts or 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺. He welcomes the real you, fully and tenderly.

He’s already moved toward you in love. The cross is proof of His compassion. The empty tomb is proof of His power to restore and renew. He is calling you.

There’s room for you here. No pressure. No judgment. Just grace. Just rest.

𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙.

From its earliest days, it has been shaped by thinkers, writers, and leaders who believed the Christian faith should be as intellectually honest as it is spiritually alive.

• 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿 (1554–1600) was one of Anglicanism’s earliest and most influential theologians. In his masterpiece, 𝘖𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘸𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘤𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, he defended the Church of England’s worship and governance by rooting them in Scripture, illuminated by tradition, and applied with reason. Hooker’s careful, measured arguments helped establish the Anglican “threefold cord” approach to theology, balancing biblical truth with thoughtful engagement in a changing world.

• 𝗖.𝗦. 𝗟𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀 (1898–1963), the beloved author of 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢, and numerous works of apologetics, was an Oxford and Cambridge scholar who showed that Christianity is both rational and deeply imaginative. Lewis had a gift for communicating eternal truths in ways that stirred the mind and captured the heart, speaking to believers and skeptics alike. His writings remain a bridge for many on their journey toward faith.

• 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹 “𝗝.𝗜.” 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 (1926–2020), one of the most respected Anglican theologians of the 20th century, is best known for 𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘰𝘥, a modern classic on the character of God and the believer’s relationship with Him. Packer stood firmly for the authority of Scripture, the centrality of the gospel, and the riches of historic Anglican worship. His work helped countless Christians recover a deep love for Reformation theology and biblical discipleship.

And these are only a few, Anglicanism has been shaped by countless faithful thinkers, pastors, missionaries, and writers whose lives and words continue to strengthen the Church around the world.
