Anoka United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming congregation. We have been members of the Anoka, Minnesota community since May of 1855. Although our religion may be centuries old, our thinking is not. We firmly believe that God is still speaking to us - and to you. Anoka UCC is a vital church. innesota on the corner of Main and 3rd Ave South. After Labor Day and until Memorial Day, worship services are 8:30am and 10:30am with fellowship in between. Sunday School for children and youth is during the second service. Youth group (grades 6-12) meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. During the summer, we worship at 9:30. Minnesotans for Racial Justice are holding an event at Riverfront Memorial Park at 1pm on Saturday, September 5 to remember Ernest McDuffey, a Black man who survived a lynching attempt 95 years ago.

The City of Anoka and the MN Senate have declared September 5 a day to remember Duffey.

At Anoka UCC, we affirm that we must never stop grappling with and repenting of our nation's history of racial injustice. We hope that by helping promote this event, we may be part of the ongoing work of reconciliation and justice to which God calls us all.

On this June 19, the Juneteenth holiday, we at the First Congregational Church remember that the Story of our faith is one of liberation.

From the liberation of the Hebrew slaves in Egypt, to the liberation of the Israelite captives in Babylon, to the liberation that came with Resurrection, the Good News is that no Emperor, dictator, or despot is equal to or higher than God, who loves each and every one of us and desires that we be free from oppression and persecution.

Until all people are free, no one is.

Pardon the late posting; Holy Week is a busy time!

This evening (Friday, April 3), we are having our annual Good Friday service of worship at 7:30pm. This year, we will be focusing not just on the death of Jesus, but the fact that he was a victim of Pilate's State violence.

Jesus isn't the only one we love who died at the hands of State-sanctioned violence. And so, tonight, we will remember others who have died, including Renae Good, Alex Pretti, George Floyd, and others.

We hope you will join us for this somber, reflective, and powerful time of remembering these blessed dead as we build resilience and courage to fight for a world where there are no more Crucifixions.

Tonight's service will NOT be livestreamed.

Sunday is Easter! What meaning can we glean from the powerful moment when Jesus says, "Mary!" and Mary finally recognizes him? What does it mean to be known as we are fully known? We hope you will join us as we celebrate the Resurrection and a God who lovingly sees each and every one of us as beloved children who are worthy of life, love, flourishing, and justice.

Our 10:30 service will be livestreamed.
Our Nursery will be open for the 10:30 service.
We will NOT have Sunday School on Easter.
