On this Memorial Day, we would like to remember those who lost their lives while at war or in uniform for their country, along with the many who are no longer with us that have served and loved others well. We offer blessings on this day, with a Memorial Day prayer that may be used as a time of reflection and remembrance.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.“ (Matthew 5:4)

Let us pray:
Almighty God, we your children, whose mortal life is but a hand’s breadth, give thanks to you: For all those through whom you have blessed our pilgrimage, whose lives that have empowered us, whose influence is a healing grace, we lift up thankful hearts.

On this day, we pray:
For the dear friends and family members whose faces we see no more, but whose love is with us forever . . .

For the teachers and companions of our childhood and youth, and for the members of our household of faith who worship you now in heaven…

For those who have sacrificed themselves, and who have given their lives for the sake of others…

That we may hold these all in continual remembrance, and think of them always as with you in that city whose gates are not shut by day and where there is no night…

On this Memorial Day, may we remember those who have died while serving this country, both in military and civil service.

May we never forget those who give their lives for others. May we, too, give our lives to serve others every day, each in our own way, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

The Day of Pentecost and Confirmation Sunday
Acts 2:1-21
“Come, Holy Spirit, Come!”
Message: Pastor Karen Evenson

Three youth members of the church are confirming their faith and will be sharing their stories and Confirmation projects! Come learn from them as they share a bit about who they are, what they believe, and what they’re doing about it.

Join us in celebrating their faith and the “birthday” of the Church as we hear the story of the coming of the Holy Soirit among the first believers to gather in community as followers of the risen Christ!

Come, Holy Spirit, Come!! 🔥🙏👏🏻❤️ 🕊️

Wear bright colors—especially red, yellow, and orange, if you’re able! Let’s lift welcome and embody the Spirit!

Worship begins at 9:30am, in-person 850 South Street Anoka, MN) and on the livestream:

Our UMCA grief support group will be meeting this evening at 6pm.

(This group meets the third Monday of each month, and anyone is welcome to attend regularly or just once or twice, according to what you feel you need).

The group is led/hosted by UMCA Congregational Care.

“Grief” can be felt in many ways, whether it is the loss of a family member or friend, pet family member, a job or other type of loss due to illness or injury, or living with chronic conditions. These and more are reasons that we might grieve.

No RSVP needed.
If you have questions, please contact the Church office at 763-421-2378 or email Sue Buckland, Coordinator of congregational care, at [email protected]

On this day, we all have an opportunity to come forward, just like on communion Sunday, and bringing our ourselves, we are invited to bring an envelope with a pledge inside. The pledge will be financial for many people, and for some the pledge will be to commit your time or some other resources that will help God’s church to grow. Whatever you bring, it will be a gift.

A Concert of Prayer

CENTERING WORD: “In the morning, long before dawn, Jesus got up, went out to a solitary, quiet place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and recognizing I’m not alone…

“Nearer My God to Thee”

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“Breathe on Me, Breath of God”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and recognizing I’m not alone…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

HYMN “Be Thou My Vision”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and finding that God has something in mind and I don’t need to worry…noticing God’s generosity and understanding I am called to be as generous as God is…with grace, and gratitude…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and noticing the difference having a church family makes in my life…and in the lives of others…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“I Need Thee Every Hour”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and realizing I do need God and God needs me…that God provides all I need, and does so every minute and every hour…and that in the human construct of a 24-hour day, I can get anxious or impatient, but God’s timing and presence is constant…and I need God in each and every moment…all through the day and night…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“What a Friend We Have in Jesus”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and being aware of God’s presence and of the importance of my own…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“Spirit of the Living God”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and feeling the way the Holy Spirit is in this place…is within me…and in others around me…

PRAYER…SILENCE…SOLITUDE

“Take My Life and Let It Be, Consecrated Lord to Thee.”

Listening for God…listening to my neighbors…sharing my story, and turning myself and my worries and fears and concerns over to God…to the ways of Christ Jesus…to being moved by the Spirit…to giving all of myself and all that I have to God’s direction, timing, generosity, and grace…

Let us pray…
