This is Rev. Shelly Zook on behalf of the Amo 1st Baptist Church.

I would like to address an incident that took place on the Church grounds yesterday, May 26, 2026.

A volunteer from the community showed up at the Church to help us with grounds upkeep.

A large number of people were parking on the grass of the Church grounds for an event that was taking place at Mill Creek West. When the volunteer asked those who were parking there why they chose to park on Church grounds, in the grass, rather than parking on a paved lot nearer to the school someone visiting the school responded very rudely to the volunteer.

This rude behavior sparked an issue that the Church was not a participating factor in, nor were we aware of the situation until "after the fact".

The Amo Fish Fry/Cascade Ball Association has nothing to do the incident that took place at the Amo Baptist Church yesterday.

However, the Mill Creek school corporation will likely lose their privileges to utilize the Church grounds for future events because of the disrespect of a few who choose to utilize the grounds while leaving trash, tearing up the grounds, using the property to smoke, and being disrespectful to others.

75th Annual Amo Fish Fry Festival Set for June 4, 5 & 6, 2026, hosted by the Amo Volunteer Fire Department and Cascade Youth League. We open Thursday and Friday at 5:30 pm and Noon on Saturday and close at 10 pm all three nights. We have tasty food, live music, kiddie rides and games, vendor tent and other special events.
