Everyone is welcome this Wednesday night for our monthly community dinner!!

02/18/2026

Hey friends, I will not be at the church for office hours today. A situation has come up that requires an in person pastoral visit. The Ash Wednesday service is still happening though, so feel free to visit me there and I am happy to stay after and chat with you if you were hoping to have a conversation.

This week in the sermon I talked about how the always up mentality of a bullish market is unsustainable and how we tend to look to systems like that for security.

After hearing the sermon, Jill shared this podcast with me(Chris). I think it is a lovely suppliment to the sermon. It talks about a more sustainable rhythm and worldview by carefully considering what "enough" means to you.

I strongly suggest making time to listen to it and maybe leaving your own thoughts or reflections in the comments below.

And why does that number keep changing?

🐂 Beyond the Bull | Exodus 32:1-34
📅 February 8, 2026 @ 10:30AM

What do a Charging Bull, a Fearless Girl, and a golden calf have in common?

In this week's sermon, we’ll explore how fear shapes where we place our trust—and what it looks like to have the courage to stand unafraid. We’ll trace the human impulse to seek security in systems, symbols, and strength, and reflect on what Jesus calls us to: a childlike faith that trusts God to bear what no statue, market, or empire ever could.

How long will we bow before the wrong things?
How do we recover the courage to stand, steady and unafraid?

🕯️ When God Comes Near | Exodus 19–20
📅 January 25, 2026 @ 10:30AM

After wandering comes arrival.
After waiting comes encounter.

At Mount Sinai, God draws near—not quietly, but in thunder, smoke, and trembling earth. The people are invited into God’s presence… and they are afraid.

In this passage, we’ll reflect on the fear of the Lord—not as terror of a monster, but as the honest human response to divine nearness. We’ll sit with what it means to encounter a God who is good, powerful, and overwhelming all at once. And we’ll consider why silence itself can feel just as frightening as thunder.

What might it mean to lean into God’s presence instead of stepping back?
What happens when we accept the invitation to listen for ourselves?

🕯️ Just Enough for Today | Exodus 16
📅 January 18, 2026 @ 10:30AM

After liberation comes the wilderness.
After celebration comes uncertainty.

In Exodus 16, God provides manna—not in abundance, not for safekeeping, but in daily portions.
Enough for today.
Not enough to feel secure tomorrow.

We’ll reflect on what it means to trust God in uncertainty, to release our grip on control, and to receive daily bread as a gift rather than a guarantee.
What might faith look like if “just enough” really is enough?

✨ It’s Not My Time Yet | John 2:1–11
📅 January 11, 2026 @ 10:30AM

Epiphany invites us to notice how God is revealed—not all at once, but in moments. At the wedding in Cana, Jesus turns water into wine and says, “My time has not yet come.”

What if not knowing the whole plan is not a problem to solve, but a grace to receive?

This Sunday we’ll reflect on timing, trust, and what it means to live faithfully without full disclosure.
