Proverbs 17:27 NKJV
He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

Don't be a "know it all". Most people are put off by someone that thinks they know everything. Instead, help others gain wisdom through shared experiences. Just spend time with friends doing the things you both like. In other words, love more and brag less.

He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

Proverbs 16:2 NKJV
All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits.

Almost everybody thinks they are a good person. We judge our own behavior in comparison to other people. We are not so bad because that other person is really bad. This is not an accurate assessment. God looks at each individual on the basis of His righteousness. All of us fall short. We need the forgiveness of Jesus to be acceptable to God. Humble yourself and follow Jesus. Then He will make our hearts pure.

Proverbs 15:16 NKJV
Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble.

Make your life's mission be about knowing the Lord. Always desiring what He wants will lead to a satisfying life. You might not end up being rich, but you will have great contentment.

Proverbs 14:23 NKJV
In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty.

God made us to be satisfied by hard work. Whatever your job is, learn to be good at it and give your employer what they are paying you for. Ultimately you are working for the Lord and seeking to please Him.

Proverbs 14:7 NKJV
Go from the presence of a foolish man, When you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

As Christians, we are to share our faith with everyone we meet. This being said, we don't have to keep talking to people that foolishly reject Jesus. Our job is like a mail carrier. We deliver the mail and move on. This is also true with other Christians that want to focus on strange doctrine or complicated evangelism. Keep your message simple and direct and don't forget to do it all in love.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, When you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

Proverbs 13:7 NKJV
There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.

Greed will consume your soul. If all of your efforts go to making money, that is all you will have. Instead, be generous. Give your finances to good causes. More importantly, give your time. Your family, friends, complete strangers and ultimately yourself will be blessed.

Proverbs 12:26 NKJV
The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

The people you spend time with will influence your life. Choose friends that are following Jesus and wanting to grow in faith. You will have better relationships and better faith.

Proverbs 11:2 NKJV
When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

Because we are not perfect, we will fail and make mistakes. Take care to live your life in honesty and humility. You don't have to highlight your failures, but instead acknowledge them and do better next time. Above all, give grace to all the other imperfect people out there.

Proverbs 10:19 NKJV
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

You probably know someone who likes to talk a lot. If you don't, then you are are the one who talks too much. Begin the practice of listening. Especially listening to God. You can hear His voice in the words of the Bible.

Proverbs 9:6 NKJV
Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.

Seek out a relationship with God. This is the way to wisdom. Studying God's Word and living in the way that God commands will help you leave foolishness behind and give you understanding. It all starts with the decision to follow Jesus.
