Colossians 4:5-6

Proverbs 30:5 NKJV
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Reading your Bible should be a daily part of your Christian life. The Bible is the primary way that God communicates with His family. Read, study, believe and follow what the Bible has to say.

Proverbs 29:23 NKJV
A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

As usual, the principles of God are completely opposite of the world. Our pride, which is glorified and encouraged by this world, is the one thing that will bring us down. Instead, be humble and serve others. Serve your spouse. Serve your family. Serve at your church. Even serve your employer and coworkers. The heart of Jesus can be found in humility.

Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

A person that does not see their own sin is very foolish. They will never seek salvation because they do not see any need for it. These are the hardest people to reach with the gospel. The truth is, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Confess your sin and God will forgive you.

Proverbs 27:12 NKJV
A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished.

Wisdom that comes from God will help you see trouble on the horizon. That same wisdom will lead you to avoid that trouble. This could be places, conversations, or even certain people that will bring problems into your life. Be wise and listen to that still small voice telling you to beware.

Proverbs 26:12 NKJV
Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

We all know that person that thinks they know it all. If you don't, that person might be you. The "know it all" is very difficult to have a conversation with. They finish other people's sentences and interrupt conversations. They are also impervious to wisdom and truth. If you are that person, learn to be silent. Listen more and talk less.

Proverbs 25:19 NKJV
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.

Surround yourself with faithful friends. People that will keep you accountable and help you when you are in trouble. Also, be that person that holds others accountable and helps them when they are in trouble. This is one of the main functions of the church.

Proverbs 24:11 NKJV
Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.

Our job is to help others. If we are able to meet the needs of someone struggling then we should do it. Especially in regards to salvation. Sharing the Gospel with your unsaved family and friends is like saving them from drowning. Not everyone will receive your message, but don't stop trying.

Proverbs 23:23 NKJV
Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.

The truth has real value. As well as wisdom, instruction and understanding. If you could actually purchase these items, it would be worth it. The real cost for these things is desire and time. Set your heart on being wise. Do the research. Receive counsel from wise people. Take classes that increase your knowledge of the Bible. Once you have a bit of wisdom don't be stingy. Give it away. In the context of the Proverbs, wisdom belongs to God and He wants you and everyone else to have it.

Proverbs 23:12 NKJV
Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge.

Have you ever encountered a "know it all"? They are difficult people because they are closed off to learning anything new. I might be describing you. God wants to show you new things every day. We should be open to hearing from God every time we open our Bible. Endeavor to be a person that searches the Word for truth. Never stop learning.

Proverbs 22:9 NKJV
He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.

I would like to look at this verse in a spiritual sense. If you have received salvation by faith in Jesus, then share that faith with everyone. When others believe in Jesus because of the way you live your life, what a blessing that would be. And if by some chance, you are also well off financially, don't be stingy. Give of your faith and your finances. The Lord will take care of you.

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.
