Welcome to Alliance Church of Christ! We are continuing our journey through The Kingdom of Heaven series in Matthew chapter 7. Today, Jesus issues a vital warning about wolves in sheep's clothing and gives us the ultimate test for spiritual authenticity: "By their fruit you will recognize them." Join us as we look into the mirror to inspect our own spiritual harvest, learn the markers of good fruit, and discover how to guard our hearts against deceptive influences.

In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus warns His followers to beware of false prophets who look harmless on the outside but are destructive on the inside. He provides a simple, foolproof law of nature to guide our spiritual discernment: healthy trees bear good fruit, and diseased trees bear bad fruit. We will break this down into three crucial steps: first, inspecting our own lives for the fruit of the Spirit; second, studying the Scriptures to know exactly what good fruit looks like; and finally, gaining the courage and clarity to recognize and reject bad fruit in the world around us.

Our true spiritual maturity is revealed when we are caught off guard. When autopilot kicks in under pressure, stress, or conflict, what spills out of you? If it's anger, self-defense, or bitterness, it’s a sign we need more of His grace filling our hearts. Self-control isn't just gritting your teeth; it's allowing the Holy Spirit to dictate your reactions so you can overcome evil with active good.

MISSION: Identify the single biggest stressor, anxiety, or natural life storm that is hitting you or your family right now. Instead of worrying or reacting out of emotion, intentionally choose one direct command of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount and actively put it into practice in the middle of that storm tonight.
