Genella Person, surrounded by her loved ones passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the age of 95. She was born in Sharpsburg, Georgia and is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Mae Gooding and father Samuel Penson; she was very lucky to have a loving mother who raised her Sally Fannie Prather also preceded in death; preceded in death her (3) sons Stephen Person, Christopher Anthony Person, Reginald Person; sister Mary Laura Zachery, Peggie(George) Hill and a niece Gloria Zachery Williams.
Genella was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee where in her younger years she taught Sunday school.
Genella is survived and her memories will forever be cherished by her daughter Sharon Person(Terry) Tate; sister Peggie Walden; grandsons Roland Reeder Jr., Lamar Reeder, Reginald(Angel) Person Jr., Christian Person; granddaughter Rachel Person; great granddaughters Chy'na Person, Rolanda Reeder; great grandson Reginald Person III; first cousins Frank(Betty) Scandrick; Melissa Pam(Wayne) Martin; nephews Courtney, Brian, Steven Walden.
Genella loved the color purple and collecting elephants, butterflies, birds mostly any little dudas; she loved decorating where she lived and she could cook very well; loved crabapples and lemons with salt in them.
Genella made friends wherever she was and had a very joyful kind spirit.
