🎉We're celebrating 20 years of St. John's Music Ministry interns!

In 2006, one generous gift launched our music internship program that provides music students with positive and practical experience teaching and conducting in a church context. Since then, we've had over 30 students come through our doors (and many of them continue to bless our music community here in Albuquerque!).

This year we welcome Mathena Page, Sophia Rodriguez, and Robert Whelan.

Albuquerque's favorite jazz service returns Saturday, September 12 at 5pm, with a wonderful lineup of musicians joining us: Dianna Hughes, Linda Davidson, Michael Anthony, Cal Haines, Terry Burns, and Robert Lah, and a message from Rev. Lisa Blaylock.

The wait is over. Jazz Vespers returns September 12! 🎷

For over 15 years, St. John's Jazz Vespers service has been Albuquerque's only ongoing worship service featuring professional jazz musicians.

September's lineup brings together Dianna Hughes, Linda Davidson, Michael Anthony, Cal Haines, Terry Burns, and Robert Lah. The message for the evening will be given by Rev. Lisa Blaylock.

Come for the music and the message, and stay for fellowship and cookies after the service 🍪

🎶 Chancel Choir kicks off tomorrow night!

Our first rehearsal of the season is Wednesday (8/19) at 6:30pm. After that, we rehearse every Wednesday at 6:30pm and sing every Sunday at the 11:00am worship service.

All singers high school age or older (at all ability levels) are welcome!

Rahim AlHaj has seen it happen — and decided to do something about it. On Saturday, August 29 at 3:00PM, St. John's Music Ministries, ¡Globalquerque! , and Classical 95.5 KHFM present ONE SKY Benefit Concert for his newly launched Rahim AlHaj Scholarship Awards, supporting composers ages 13–18.

Come see for yourself! Join Jim Ahrend and Nathan Cleaveland on Sunday, June 21 at 9:30am in the sanctuary for an exploration of St. John’s pipe organ.

Jim and Nathan will demonstrate the varieties of sounds and colors that the instrument offers and give an overview of how the technology works.

You'll get up close to the console, hear the organ demonstrated live, and get answers to all your questions — plus an update on the pipe organ project.

🎶 Pipe Organ Project Moves Forward! 🎶

For decades, St. John’s pipe organ has filled our sanctuary with beautiful music. What you may not know is that the instrument is incomplete.

When the organ was installed in 2006, only about two-thirds of the original design could be built due to budget limitations. Even then, the vision was to one day complete the instrument as it was intended for the space.

That journey is now moving forward, and we’re excited to share updates along the way! Follow along here as we explore the history, vision, and future of this incredible instrument — or visit our blog to read the full story:
