Sri Ayyanar Temple, Taiping, Malaysia

Sri Ayyanar Temple is located among the rubber and oil palm estates near Taiping, Perak. The temple began when an Indian woman from Madurai named Periamma built a small shrine under a tree using sacred sand from her village mixed with clay. The original idol is still preserved today.

During British rule, an officer wanted to remove the tree. That night, he dreamed that milk flowed from the tree, and the next morning he saw the same miracle. Believing it was a divine sign, he allowed the tree and the temple to remain.

Today, the temple is famous for its impressive
72-foot-tall statue of Sri Ayyanar, attracting many devotees and visitors.
