Parish Retreat Day 1:
Encounter God in Prayer 🙏✨

First day of our Parish Retreat invited us to step away from our busy lives and truly encounter God in prayer. Prayer isn't an obligation or just words, it’s sitting quietly, letting God love us, and making space for His presence to transform our hearts.

➡️ Swipe through to revisit some of the reflections 📝

Where did you feel God speaking to you on Day 1? We'd love to hear it, as your story might be the gentle reminder someone else needs today 🕊️

Growing in Faith, Serving with Joy 🌿

What a joyful Saturday as we celebrated our monthly Children's and Youth Mass with L9 youths, who dutifully answered the call to serve as Lectors, Hospitality Ministers and Choir.

Through their reflections, we catch a glimpse of what this call to serve means to them:
🕊️ Sharing their gifts
💛 Serving others
✝️ Growing closer to Christ

We’re grateful to the L9 Youth and Liturgical Ministry leaders for their endless guidance and care in helping our youths grow in faith and serve.

As our L9 youths prepare for Confirmation in October, let us pray for them:
"May the Holy Spirit strengthen their faith and guide them to recognise and respond to God’s call with courage, joy and love. Amen." 🙏

Celebrating Catholic Education Sunday

On 25 August, we honour St.Joseph Calasanz, Patron of Catholic Schools and give thanks for the gift of Catholic Education and the beautiful partnership between homes, schools and parishes.

🙏 A special thank you to the students and teachers from HIHS & SJIIH for joining us and helping to make our Sunday Mass celebration so meaningful.

🎨 We also celebrate the Angelico Art Award (Schools Edition) Exhibition at our church, feat. 48 artworks inspired by the theme "Love means walking the talk" 1 John 3:18.

A beautiful celebration of faith, learning and creativity!

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The Church celebrates the Assumption of Mary on 15 August, transferred to 16 August this year for pastoral reasons, commemorating the Blessed Virgin Mary being taken body and soul into Heaven. ✨

What a beautiful reminder that Mary’s faithful “yes” to God leads her to the fullness of life with Him. May she continue to guide us closer to her Son and teach us to trust in God’s will. 🙏

13 Years of Faithful Service ❤️‍🔥

Today, we give thanks for 13 years of priestly ministry and the gift of Fr.Rusdi to our parish community.

“In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.”
Psalm 71:1 📖

As Fr. Rusdi choose to reflect on this verse, let us as a parish community join him in prayer:

🙏 Lord, we thank You for Fr.Rusdi and his faithful service to Your people. Continue to guide, strengthen and bless him as he shepherds Your flock. May You grant him many more years of joyful and faithful service, always rooted in Your love. Amen.

Let's give our heartfelt congratulations to Fr Rusdi on his 13th Sacerdotal Anniversary!

MISSME3: We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight. (2 Cor 5:7) ✨

Every mission begins with questions:
💭What can I give? How can I help? How can I make a difference?

But somewhere along our journey, those questions changed.
😎 Through every smile, we encountered Christ
🕊️ Through every conversation, we discovered His presence
🙏 Through every shared prayer, our faith grew deeper
💛 Through every challenge, God transformed our hearts

As we are reminded, “We are evangelized by the people we serve” (SS.CC Const. 43∞2b).

We went to Mentawai hoping to serve. We returned home with renewed faith, grateful hearts, knowing that throughout the journey, God was teaching us to walk by faith, not by sight.

Recent events remind us how fragile peace can be. As followers of Christ, may we care for one another with compassion, choose understanding over conflict, and never underestimate the power of a kind word or a listening heart.

Excerpt from Fr Johan’s prayer:
“May the Lord grant us understanding, hearts that forgive, and the grace to live together in harmony. We keep in prayer all who are grieving, and ask God to fill our community with His peace and love.”

[ A Quiet Evening of Prayer and Unity 🕊️ ]

Last night, residents, community partners and religious leaders came together at Lengkok Bahru for a quiet evening of prayer, remembrance and solidarity.

We heard prayers from leaders representing the Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, Christian and Muslim faiths, before observing a minute of silence together at Block 55. Different faiths, standing together as one community — in hope, compassion and support for one another. 🕊️

My heartfelt thanks to our religious leaders for guiding us, and to everyone who joined us in this meaningful moment. In times like these, the strength of our community lies in how we care for and stand by one another.

One Lengkok Bahru, One Queenstown. 💙
