🪷 Honouring a Legacy, Remembering with Gratitude 🪷

On 6 June 2026, devotees gathered at Mangala Vihara to commemorate Memorial Day in honour of Venerable M. M. Mahaweera and Venerable Dr P. Gnananarama.

Through offerings, devotion, and the sharing of merits, we paid tribute to their lasting contributions and reflected on the invaluable legacy they left behind.

May their teachings continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.

Buddha Pūjā as Dhamma Pūjā 🙏

Light
I offer this light as a determination to dispel my darkness of ignorance through the light of the Dhamma.

Incense
I offer this Incense as a determination to dispel my foul odour of unwholesome actions through the fragrance of wholesome actions.

Flowers
I offer these flowers with the reflection on impermanence: all that arises passes away; just as these beautiful flowers fade, so too does all conditioned existence.

Saturday afternoon well spent! 🌸✨

On 16 May, the Mangala Vihara Young Adults gathered for our workshop, "Intro to Buddhist Etiquette: Puja Edition." Whether you've been doing Puja for years or it was your very first time, it was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces joining us to learn together.

We kicked things off with a short Puja session, followed by an insightful sharing by Bhante Suneetha and Sister Margaret on the significance behind our Puja practices, answering everything we've wanted to know but were too shy to ask! 💡A wide range of questions were discussed, from the symbolism of offering items (e.g. flowers as a reflection of impermanence), local cultural influences on Puja, and how Puja is more than just a ritual as it provides space for healing and for interconnectedness within a community.

We hope the workshop helped to demystify the rituals and answer some of your questions. Thank you to everyone who spent their Saturday with us. Here’s to approaching our next Puja with a fresh, mindful, and meaningful perspective! 🙏

🙏 Dhamma Talk on “Life and Rebirth” by Sayādaw U Jotika 🙏

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the Dhamma Talk on “Life and Rebirth" by Sayādaw U Jotika on Monday, 18 May 2026 at Mangala Vihara.

The response was truly overwhelming, with devotees filling the Shrine Hall and extending all the way to Mangala Hall just to listen to the inspiring Dhamma sharing. It was a joyful and uplifting sight to witness so many gathered together with faith and eagerness to learn the Dhamma. 🌿

Our deepest appreciation to Sayādaw U Jotika for graciously conducting the talk and sharing his wisdom and experience with us. We are also grateful to all devotees, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the event smooth and meaningful.

May the blessings of the Dhamma continue to guide and inspire all of us.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🙏🙏🙏
