🙏 Kathina Ceremony 2026 at Mangala Vihara

We warmly invite all devotees, family and friends to join us for our Kathina Ceremony on Sunday, 25 October 2026.

Kathina is a special occasion for the Buddhist community to come together in gratitude and generosity, offering Kathina robes and requisites to the Saṅgha following the completion of the Vassa (Rains Retreat).

🌅 Morning Programme: 5:30 am – 8:30 am
🌙 Evening Programme: 6:45 pm – 8:45 pm

The day will include the Kathina Robe Procession, Buddha Pūjā, Kathina Robe Offering, Saṅghika Dāna, and our evening Bodhi Pūjā and Buddhist Pāli Naming Ceremony.

Kathina robes and requisites donations can be made at the MV Treasury Office every Sunday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

🚫 Please note that there will be no parking at the temple.

Kamma in the Buddha’s Own Words

(Eight-lesson Dhamma course)

Kamma is one of the Buddha’s most important teachings, yet it is often misunderstood. What is Kamma? Is everything in our lives caused by past Kamma? Can the effects of bad Kamma be changed? Why are people born into different circumstances?

This eight-lesson Dhamma course explores these questions through important Suttas in the Pāli Canon. It offers a clear understanding of intention, wholesome and unwholesome actions, the results of Kamma, and common misunderstandings about the Buddha’s teaching on Kamma.

🙏 A Meaningful Piṇḍapāta on National Day 🇸🇬

Last Sunday, as Singapore celebrated National Day, we were blessed to come together at Mangala Vihara for our Piṇḍapāta Ceremony — a meaningful morning of generosity, gratitude and community.

Our sincere appreciation to all the Venerable Bhantes for gracing the occasion with their presence and blessings, and to all our devotees who joined us in making offerings and sharing in this meritorious event.

A big thank you also to our volunteers and helpers, the Piṇḍapāta Organising Committee, and the Mangala Vihara Management Committee for their time, effort and support in making the event possible.

It was wonderful to see everyone coming together in the spirit of Dāna on such a special day. 🙏❤️🇸🇬

Waso Robe Offering: A Gift of Great Benefit

The Waso Robe Offering (Vassa Robe Offering) is a cherished Theravāda Buddhist tradition held before the annual Vassa (Rains Retreat). During this three-month period, monks remain in one monastery, dedicating themselves to meditation, study, and the practice of the Dhamma. To support them, lay devotees offer robes and the four requisites—robes, alms food, lodging, and medicines.

The significance of these offerings is explained in the Bahupakāra Sutta (Itivuttaka 107). The Buddha taught that lay followers greatly benefit the Saṅgha by providing the four requisites, while the Saṅgha benefits lay people by teaching the Dhamma that leads to welfare, happiness, and liberation. This mutual relationship has sustained the Buddha’s Dispensation for centuries.

Last Sunday, following this noble tradition, the Myanmar Buddhist community is joyfully holding a Waso Robe Offering Ceremony for the four resident monks of Mangala Vihara Buddhist Temple. Through this offering, they express their faith, gratitude, and generosity, while supporting the monks in their Vassa practice without concern for material needs.

The Waso Robe Offering is therefore much more than a ceremonial presentation of robes. It is a meaningful act of dāna that strengthens the bond between the lay community and the Saṅgha, cultivates wholesome qualities, and contributes to the preservation and flourishing of the Buddha Sāsana for the benefit of present and future generations.
