A refreshing way to begin Happy Vesak Day 2025! Volunteered once again at KYCL Zen Meditation Center after a long break since Covid. Grateful to spend the morning taking videos & photos, sitting & walking meditation, breathing in pure air, surrounded by the gentle sound of flowing water and birdsong in nature. 📿✨🙏

📍 Mass Meditation Site – Hidden behind Bukit Gombak Stadium, handpicked by ShiFu for its serenity, beside a flowing stream and harmony with nature.

The Precepts 🙏

The Precepts 🙏

In Mahayana practice, my precepts and my practice are not for me: they are only for all beings. So I keep these precepts not for myself, but to help other beings. This means that sometimes, in some situations, breaking the precepts can help others much better than holding the precepts. If you mind is clear, then keeping the precepts is correct practice and breaking the precepts is also correct practice. The most important point is, why do you do it? Is it only for you, or for all beings? —Zen Master Seung Sahn

"It's our lazy mind that makes this idea of saving all people something difficult." Quote by Zen Master Soeng Hyang. See more quotes: https://bit.ly/49Qi8DV

In one of the Buddhist scriptures, the Hua Yen Sutra (in English, the Flower Garland Sutra), there is a short passage that is often quoted: “If you want to understand all the Buddhas of the past, present and future, then you should view the nature of the universe as created by mind alone.” “Created by mind alone” is not a philosophical point about whether everything is inside or outside or whether outside even exists. The point is that we experience everything in our minds, nowhere else. Our feelings are registered in our minds; sounds are registered in our minds. If there were no consciousness, ears wouldn’t be functioning, eyes would not be functioning and so on. Everything occurs in our minds and unfortunately most of the time we are coloring reality with our own mental constructions, imagination and fabrication. We make things. And when we’re making things we are very far away from reality as it is. … All this has to do with the activity of ignorance. Ignorance is not so much a thing as an active ongoing process of ignoring things as they are and generating my own version of them. —Zen Master Wu Kwang (Photo by Jiří Hazlbauer JDPSN.)
