It’s possible to look right on the outside while our hearts are somewhere else.

In Mark 6:30–7:30, Jesus feeds the hungry, reveals His power, confronts religious traditions and meets a woman with remarkable faith.

But beneath all these stories lies one deeper question:

What does Jesus really care about?

This week, we’ll get to The Heart of the Matter. ❤️‍🔥

Would you still follow Jesus if it cost you your comfort, your security, your popularity — even your life?

In Mark 6:7–30, Jesus sends the Twelve out to proclaim the Gospel. But then the story takes a darker turn.

Because following Jesus isn't just about being willing to go.
It's about being willing to remain faithful, whatever the cost.

This Sunday, we’ll explore what it really means to count the cost of following Jesus.

This Sunday, 6 Sep, Chinese Service

Luke 12:13–21 — “Rich Toward God / 向神富足”

The rich man in Jesus’ parable was successful. He had plenty, planned for the future, and thought he was secure.

Yet God said to him, “You fool!”

Why?

What was missing from his life? And what does it mean to be “rich toward God”?Come and hear what Jesus says about what truly matters in life. 🙏

What do we do when Jesus seems too late?

This week, we’ll journey through Mark 5:21–6:6 and explore faith in the middle of desperation, disappointment and doubt.

What happens when we believe Jesus can do something… but He doesn’t respond in the way or timing we expect?

And what might be standing in the way of our faith?

Two stories - chaotic nature in the first, and demonic power in the second. In the boat, Jesus rebukes the wind and waves with a word and they obey, prompting the disciples to ask, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
Mark places these two accounts side by side to press one question on the reader: who is this Jesus, that both nature and the demonic realm submit to his command?

This Sunday 9 August, the Chinese congregation will be looking at Luke 12:1–12, where Jesus lovingly gives both warnings and promises.

His warnings are meant to protect us, and His promises are meant to strengthen us.

May we learn to fear GOD above all else, trust in His faithful care, and courageously follow Christ.

What did Jesus come to do? Apparently the people then (and perhaps even all of us!) want Him to serve us by healing us of our diseases/sickness. But Mark 2:1-17 tells us that His greater purpose is in delivering us from our sin & separation from God. Come join us this Sunday as we look at this passage together. www.emmanuelbpc.org.sg
