"The gospel is not a product we sell; it is a life we share."

In a new article, Major Sandra Pawar takes us to John 21 – the moment after the miraculous catch, when Jesus made the disciples breakfast on the shore. She notices something tender in the way Jesus moved that morning. He didn't rush. He didn't interrupt the meal. He waited until the fire had burned down and the conversation had settled before he turned to Peter and asked, "Do you love me?"

That patience, she writes, is the heart of how the gospel is actually shared.

Her husband comes from a tea culture and taught her there's an art to making tea well. The water has to boil. The leaves have to steep. You can't rush it. The same is true of conversations. The same is true of relationships. The same is true of how people come to know Jesus – not usually in a single dramatic encounter, but through the patient steeping of a hundred conversations and a thousand cups of tea.

On May 21, we're joining together for 1000 Cups of Tea. Put the kettle on. Make space for the neighbor, the coworker, the friend. Love and steep. God will do the rest.
