Jesus told a story about a son who demanded his inheritance, took it to a far country, and spent it all in frivolous living. Having no resources left, he fed a farmer’s pigs and longed for better days. Meanwhile, his father, anxiously longing for his return, paced the porch, watching the road. The minute he saw his son, he ran to meet him and welcomed him home. In God’s kingdom, we do not have to try to come up with ways to get God to forgive and accept us. We need only admit how far we have fallen and place our feet once again on the road home. Pause for a moment and reflect — do you need reconsider the direction you are walking right now, and head home?
