"An In-law's Advice"

"You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone." - Exodus 18:18 (NIV)

Moses father-in-law, Jethro, had heard about Moses deliverance of Israel with Yahweh's blessings. He went to pay a visit to Moses, and he took along with him Zipporah and her two sons, Gershom and Eliezer, where the Israelites were camping nearby Horeb. Upon his arrival, he sent to inform his son-in-law that he had arrived.

Upon Moses' arrival, he welcomed his in-law and briefly informed him all the Lord was doing in the life of the Israelites through him. Jethro was excited and joyful to hear all the good things and the power Moses had. Then, Jethro decided to give Moses his in-law an advice. What was the intention of this advice? Was it good or bad? The story continues.

Jethro first offered a burnt offering and sacrifice to Yahweh, the second day he observed how Moses were rendering justice from morning to evening which caused Moses to become fatigued, Jethro asked Moses why he was doing this all by himself, and Moses responded. Finally, Jethro gave Moses his advice. He advised Moses to appoint people who feared Yahweh, loved truth, and hate covetousness to judge the people and only the difficult and most important ones he should handle. Moses listened to his in-law wise counsel.

Sometimes in-laws' advice is good and sometimes bad. It is your right and responsibility to listen, but it is your duty to only implement their wise counsel. Most times, the advice of in-laws is selfish and one-sided. They only look out for themselves and their own family members. Be on the alert and learn from Moses. Don't be judgemental either because of your own personal issues. Be open-minded to the Spirit of Yahweh to make the right decision.

Prayer
Thank you, God, for allowing me to cross paths with my in-laws. Help me with the wisdom of Solomon to action only their wise counsel. May I not be deterred by their wrong counsel. Amen.

"He Knows What's Best"

"When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, "If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt." - Exodus 13:17 (NIV)

Often, we question God when things don't seem to support our feelings, attitudes, or decisions. If fact, most times, the question we pose to Him is indictment instead of a question to gain wisdom or understanding. It's alright, Yahweh knows what's best when it comes to you.

Yahweh's promise to deliver the children of Israel and give them the promised land. This promise was signed, sealed, and was about to be delivered. Knowing the minds of the Israelites and the intention of Pharaoh to still keep them under bo***ge, He did not take them through a shorter route but a longer one. He allowed they to pass through the Philistine country.

Why did Yahweh allow the children of Israel to travel through a longer route than the shorter one? Yahweh allowed them because He knew the shorter route had obstacles on the way. Such obstacle as war would have caused them to doubt Him, regret their decision, and return to Egypt since it would have been easier for them. The longer route may it harder for them to want to return after such a long distance covered. Yahweh knows what's best for you when He makes the decision on your behalf.

Remember that not every long distance or difficult time in your life is meant for evil. Most times, they are a journey of training and endurance to bring you to a place of realization and acknowledgement of who Yahweh is. His decisions are never a mistake or wrong.

Prayer
Help me, Yahweh, to always trust your decision concerning my life. May I get an understanding of your plans for my life. You oh Lord take the glory. Amen

"When Will You Admit Your Wrongdoings"

"Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. "This time I have sinned," he said to them. "The LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong." - Exodus 9:27 (NIV)

Moses and Aaron had gone to Pharaoh and spoken to him in a respectable manner without any disrespect or force, but yet, he refused to listen to them. In fact, he refused to listen and respect the message of Yahweh, delivered by Moses. Therefore, the Lord decided to teach him a lesson with force.

First, the Lord released a plague on the livestock of the Egyptians, and they died, but Pharaoh refused. Next, boils were released in the air, and there were boils on people and animals everywhere, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the Israelites go. The Lord released the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen in Egypt. Those who feared Yahweh, including the officers of Pharaoh, listened and went to the place of safety. Everyone and everywhere were touched and destroyed by the hailstorm except for Goshen, where the Israelites were. It was only at this point when the worst had occurred that Pharaoh finally admitted that he had sinned and realized the power of Yahweh.

What is it that you are doing that you have been warned so many times by God and yet have refused to listen to the Word of God? What are you waiting for to realize how much Christ loves you and don’t want to see you destroyed? Christ is pleading with you daily if you do not know Him or have a relationship with Him. For those who do but still ignore Him when they feel like doing so, it might be too late if you keep up this kind of attitude. Salvation is now. Don't wait for the worst to occur before you decide to acknowledge and accept Christ and the reality of your situation.

Prayer
Lord, have mercy on me. Christ, have mercy on me. Every time I reject your wise counsel, please bring me back to my senses. Please do not abandon me, Lord. Amen and Amen.

"Your Appeal Is With God"

"Then the Israelite overseers went and appealed to Pharaoh: "Why have you treated your servants this way?" - Exodus 5:15 (NIV)

Often, people usually go to the wrong places to seek refuge or help and to the wrong people. But have you ever wondered whether you are at the wrong destination or with the wrong person? Many, many years ago, when my dad was alive, he always wrote on my birthday card, "Not everything in life that glitters is gold." This is deep and true. What we may see on the surface is not actually the reality. Someone may profess to be something or do something but the intention is quite the opposite.

Moses and Aaron were on a mandate by God to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt because He had heard their cries. When King Pharaoh was informed, his first contention was he did not know the God they spoke of and the second was by what authority does this God have that he as a king have to listen and take instruction from someone he considered to be below him? He outrightly refused, and he became annoyed. He instructed his salves drivers and overseers to stop supplying the Israelites with straw to make the bricks, but they should produce the same quantity of blocks daily. The Israelites could not complete the required work. Pharaoh's salve drivers beat the Israelites overseers they had appointed because the task was not completed.

The Israelites' overseers went to complain to Pharaoh that the condition his salve drivers had given them was impossible to achieve, and they had hoped they would have gotten a proper redress. Little did they know that it was this same king who had given such a condition. They had taken their appeal to the wrong person instead of taking it to Yahweh. Pharaoh's response to them was that they were lazy people who only wanted to pray to their God without working.

Does this sound familiar? Yes. It's our fault that the power of prayer is questioned and the importance of serving Yahweh. Have you not heard that if you do not work, you won't eat, and there is dignity in labour. Yahweh has blessed you with skills and talents, but truly indeed, some people want to be lazy and depend on miracles for everything. It does not work like that. If you go to the wrong places and the wrong people, you will be taught a lesson you won't forget so easily. Your solution provider is Christ.

Prayer
O my Lord and my God, help me to remember who you are. Help me to remember to always reach out to you first when I don't understand or have an issue. May your grace and wisdom abide with me always. In Jesus' name, I have prayed with Thanksgiving. Amen.

"Let Them Live"

"And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?" - Exodus 1:18 (NIV)

Whenever a person senses danger, he or she does everything within their powers to prevent it. In trying to prevent the danger, they become very drastic and more protective. They can do anything at this point without any hesitation. Their goal is to prevent what is about to be unfolded, and that could even lead to death.

Is there something you are preventing from happening that requires the life of someone? Will you continue on this journey just to satisfy your ego, to please family members or tradition? Do you think you will find peace after taking a life or the reason for a life to be snatched into thin air? Be careful on the move you make.

Pharaoh was trying to prevent the prophecy of Jesus' mandate to redeem mankind from their sins by ensuring no male child survives so that Jesus won't be born. He gave an instruction to the Hebrew midwives to kill all the male children when they were helping the Hebrew women to give birth. The Hebrew midwives feared Yahweh over this powerful king. They did not think what would happen to them when they disobeyed the king. Their focus was obedience to God's word, :Thy shall not kill" and not an instruction from man.

This should be an example for your everyday life in obedience to Yahweh's word instead of what traditions or the world requires of you against the word of God. The word of Yahweh must always be honoured no matter what. Let the truth live, let the people of God live because no matter whatever you do, there will always be another version or vessel to be used for the glorification of Yahweh.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I surrender to you. Kill the spirit of desire to destroy lives by the things I do and, say, which are contradictions to your will. This I have prayed in Jesus' name. Amen.

"What Will You Give Me"

"And said [unto them], What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver." - Matthew 26:15 (KJV)

Every time someone is engaged to perform a task, a familiar question is always asked. The question does not have any barrier, nor does it take into consideration who should ask this question. In fact, little children also ask this question. The question is, "What Will You Give Me?" Is it wrong to ask such a question? No, it is not wrong. Man has a tendency of not wanting to give a just compensation for services rendered at times. Therefore, it is good to engage them before the services are rendered.

Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus' Twelve disciples. He was the custodian of the finances. Judas greed could not allow him to be content. He wanted more, and he began to strategize how to acquire more. The chief priest, scribes, and elders also strategize how to kill Jesus because they felt that Jesus was a threat to them. These people all met, and Judas asked the chief priest the question if he turned Jesus over to them, "What will you give me?" The chief priest had had the answer in action and gave Judas thirty pieces of silver, a full payment before the job was completed.

Judas asked this familiar question to destroy the life of Jesus, but what or who do you intend to kill or destroy by asking this same question, "What will you give me?" I know perhaps you might think that if you were in Judas' place, you would not have done such. Oh no, you are mistaken. The things you do, say, or the way you behave are killing Christ on a daily basis. You are no better. Who are you planning to destroy that you think you deserve compensation for? Know that Christ is willing to forgive you as He was for Judas. Don't make the mistake Judas made by taking his life instead of repentance. There is no sin so bad that Christ is not willing to forgive.

Prayer
Today, I have heard from you, oh Lord. Help me to stop asking for a reward for my evil deeds. May I only request things that will only build me up and improve who I am. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"I Know You Not"

"But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not." - Matthew 25:12 (KJ)

It is so easy or common to say you know someone when you don't actually know them or have a relationship with them. Most of the time, our profession of knowledge of a person, a thing, or situation can be derived from what we have seen, heard, read, or flashes of a few encounters.

Tell me, have you ever had an experience of someone you have spoken of for such a long time, and when you finally meet that person, you were told that they don't know you? Or if they knew you but at that moment decided not to identify themselves with you for some reason or the other? How did you feel? Just imagine the shame, disgrace, and regret you will feel for this rejection.

Jesus will say these words to you, "I Know You Not" on the day of judgement if you are not careful. All the things you did before, all the things you are doing right now and all the things you will do in the future in the name of Christ of which you do not have a personal relationship with Him will all be in vain. Do you want Christ to tell you that you were never a part of Him and that you never with His followers or Father? This is the time to build and develop a personal relationship with Christ before it gets too late. Wake up from your sleep of pretentiousness. If you don't, you won't be acknowledged as His disciple. You will be excluded from Christ Kingdom, where only love reigns.

Prayer
Oh Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Let not my labour for you on earth be in vain. May my profession of you be personal and intimate. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"Stand Firm"

"but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:13 (NIV)

How are you? What is going through your mind at this point? Look around you. Have you observed what is going on around you? Jesus spoke to His disciples about the End Times, and He wanted you and I to also be aware. Therefore, it was written and recorded in scripture.

Jesus foretold that before the end of time riches, there will be many false prophets claiming that they are the Christ and will deceived many, there will be wars and rumors of wars, nations will fight against nations, famines and earthquakes will be in various places, people will be persecuted and be put to death, people will turn away from the faith, and because of the wickedness, people love for Him will grow cold. But this will not be the end.

One thing stands out after Jesus said all of what would happen. He encouraged the disciples, you and I, to stand firm to the end because those will be the ones that will be saved. Your faith in Him should not be shaken when you are persecuted for doing what is right, nor give up on Christ when things do not seem to be working out for you. In fact, it is the time your faith in Christ is really tested. Your love for Him should be proven at this point as you would do for your earthly or human love.

To stand firm for Christ requires that you deny yourself from many things for Christ's sake. To stand firm is to say yes when it is yes while others are saying no. To stand firm requires becoming abandoned by loved ones because of your stance for Christ. Yes, to stand firm requires the grace of Yahweh, which you can have if you ask Him. Stand Firm, don't let your faith in Christ be a question. Stand Firm.

Prayer
Oh, Heavenly Father, thank you. To stand against the world for your sake requires your grace. Please give me your grace to stand against the world as you did when you were on earth. In Jesus' name, I have prayed with thanksgiving. Amen.

"Know Who To Call Father"

"And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven." - Matthew 23:9 (NIV)

The topic under discussion may sound questionable, but it is a matter of concern when it comes to the one who provides the source of your growth spiritually. A spiritual father is very, very important in the life of each individual, just as their physical father is. No matter what one does, the one who gave birth to your existence can never be removed from one's life or forgotten, even if he is the worst person in the world. Your physical father is your physical father.

In like manner, when it comes to your spiritual growth, Christ warms that you and I must not make the mistake to call anyone as Father spiritually because only His Father which is in heaven has the right to be called Father. Christ was teaching His disciples that Yahweh is a jealous God, and He does not want His glory to be shared with any man. He made it quite clear that He would not have or accept no second father after Himself, to be established in the church that He is the only head.

The second lesson taught by Jesus is the lesson of equality. He wanted His disciples to know and to continue to teach the people about perfect equality must subexist amongst them at all time. No one is second to Him. All of them are equal in His sight. Man, by nature, won't accept this lesson taught by Christ. They repeatedly called themselves and allowed their followers, and others to call them father, his grace, his lordship, and so many other names or titles. If you did not know before, now the word has been shared with you, and you are now aware. Please learn and take heed. Yahweh is the only spiritual father that you can submit to totally.

Prayer
Thank you Lord for your words of wisdom release to me today. I repent for giving your glory to an earthly man as a father. Please forgive me and have mercy on me. Please let your Holy Spirit guide and remind me always that you are the only one to be called my father spiritually. Amen.

"Your Authority Will Be Questioned"

"And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?" - Matthew 21:23

Why do you get angry each time when your authority is questioned by man? Have you not read the Holy One, the Creator of the universe, Jesus Christ was also questioned by men, and His authority is still being questioned on a daily basis? Yes, He was, and He is still being questioned. What was the intent of the question, and how did Jesus respond to such a question?

The chief priest and elders of the people approached Jesus and questioned His authority when He began to teach the people in the temple. In their minds, they felt Jesus was not qualified to teach. According to them, He did not meet their requirements. Secondly, what runs through my mind, probably they think how can a stranger walk into their temple to teach without being authorized by them. Thirdly, they knew within themselves that Jesus was the authority and His presence showcase authority.

Jesus was authority and, as one who has wisdom and knew all things, used His wisdom to respond to them by allowing them to defeat the question posed to Him. Jesus asked them to answer His question, where John's baptism came from, and then He would respond to their question. They knew if they had responded that it came from heaven, they would be asked why did they not believe John and if they said from human, they was afraid what the people would do to them because the people believed John was a prophet. Therefore, they said they did not know. Jesus also told them He won't answer their question.

Wisdom must be used at all times when your authority given to you by the Lord Jesus Christ is questioned. Anger nor hatred can solve anything. Remember, the word of Yahweh says in Proverbs 15:1, a soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. This should be your guarding rod.

Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for giving me authority to do what I need to do for the Kingdom. May I always use wisdom to confront foolishness. May your Holy Spirit guide me through the process. In Jesus' name. Amen.
