STOMART Daily Devotional
"The Destruction of The Wicked"
By: Rev. A. Clementina Williams-Johnson, III
"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. - Malachi 4:1 (NIV)
To those of you who think wickedness is profitable and it's something that you should constantly engage in, listen to what the Word of Yahweh has to say concerning the wicked.
In this last chapter of Malachi, we read about Yahweh's awful judgment on the wicked. The beginning starts with the assurance that no matter what, the judgment of the wickedness of the people of Jerusalem is certain. The Romans will be the ones to destroy Jerusalem. This is a word for you. Arrogance, stubbornness, and denial of the power of God won't excuse you from being destroyed on that day.
The destruction of Jerusalem would be by famine, the sword, or by captivity, and everyone who disobeyed Yahweh will be destroyed. Like Jerusalem, don't think that because no one sees what you have done will cause you to be spared. No, you won't. You will be a part of the destruction because Yahweh sees you.
Finally, after Yahweh destroyed Jerusalem, the word of God says no man or child shall be able to escape. Absolutely no one. Further, we read what happened after the destruction. These words are written for you to learn from the mistakes of Jerusalem and its people so that you won't make the same mistakes. Secondly, you will get to know how far Yahweh can go to render punishment when He is disobeyed and sin is committed. You have a chance for you, your family, community, city, or nation to escape now by doing what is right. Tomorrow may be too late.
Prayer
Heavenly Father Yahweh, I thank you for giving me opportunities upon opportunities to repent and return to you. I am grateful for your love for me. Give me the grace to obey you and flee from disobedience. In Jesus' name, I have prayed with thanksgiving. Amen.
Remain blessed always because of Christ.
