예수님께서 성령을 온전히 받아들이셨을 때, 아버지께서는 하늘에서 "이는 내 사랑하는 아들이요 내 기뻐하는 자라!"라고 외치셨습니다. 이는 예수님께서 이 땅에 오신 주된 목적 중 하나를 이루신 것이었으며, 지금도 성취되고 있습니다. 바로 인류가 아버지의 음성을 듣고, 그분의 말씀을 듣고 이해하도록 하기 위함입니다. 그분의 말씀은 영이시며 온 인류에게 생명이시기 때문입니다. 예수님과 성령께서 우리 안에서 함께하실 때, 우리도 아버지의 음성을 듣게 될 것입니다. 그 운명적인 날 요단 강에서 예수님의 세례를 목격했던 사람들이 그랬던 것처럼 말입니다.

하지만 아버지께서 예수님을 기뻐하신 이유는 무엇일까요? 바로 아버지의 뜻에 순종하셨기 때문입니다. 요한은 예수님께서 세례를 받으러 오셨을 때, 자신(요한)이 세례를 받아야 한다고 말하며 반대했습니다. 하지만 예수님께서는 요한에게 "모든 의를 이루기" 위해 세례를 허락하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 아버지께서는 그분의 자녀인 우리가 의롭게 되기를 구할 때 항상 기뻐하십니다. 그리고 순종을 항상 기뻐하십니다. 순종은 제사보다 항상 낫습니다. 불순종하여 나중에 죄를 속죄하기 위해 제사를 드려야 하는 것보다 처음부터 순종하는 것이 낫습니다. 어떤 아버지에게든 물어보십시오. 순종은 아버지들에게 매우 기쁜 일입니다. 오직 당신만을 사랑하시고 당신의 유익을 바라시는 하늘에 계신 아버지께 순종하시겠습니까? 오늘 성령으로 세례를 받으시겠습니까? 거룩함은 하나님께 매력적이고 기쁘시게 하는 것이며, 우리가 거룩해질 수 있는 유일한 방법은 그분의 영이 우리 안에, 우리의 마음 안에, 나아가 우리 몸에 거하시는 것입니다.

우리의 영은 거룩해져야 합니다. 우리의 영혼은 의롭고 순수해져야 합니다. 성령께서 우리의 영과 연합하여 우리의 영을 거룩하게 만드십니다. 예수님은 우리 영혼과 하나가 되심으로써 우리의 영혼을 의롭게 만드십니다. 결국 예수님은 우리 아버지의 영혼을 상징하시기 때문입니다. 그러므로 말씀이 다시 육신이 되어 당신의 육신에 거하게 하십시오.

세상을 기쁘게 하는 것은 아버지께 기쁘시거나 매력적이지 않습니다. 음악, 영화, TV 쇼에는 상상할 수 있는 모든 영이 가득하지만, 우리 아버지의 영, 즉 인간의 영이든 악령의 영이든, 대개는 둘 다 연합하여 일하며 우리의 TV와 영화관을 채웁니다. 예수님이나 성령을 공경하거나 그로부터 영감을 받는 사람은 거의 없습니다.

Turn to Him now - invite Him in

for He's aware of every ache, every care,

every sin that's dwelling there

Let Him cover your nakedness and shame

Tear down the wall

that stops you from obeying My call

to intimacy

to truly be

one with Me...
