In Deuteronomy, God through Moses warned Israel that he would remove them from the Land and disperse them amongst the nations if they proved unfaithful. Well, Israel had a career of sin and came under judgment.
The first judgment was the divided kingdom.
Solomon had trampled underfoot the glory, wisdom and the blessing of God when he allowed his foreign wives to turn his heart from God. Gods judgment was Division. Israel to the north and Judah to the south.
The prophets were raised up and sent to both Israel and Judah to warn them of greater judgment if they continued to do evil. Israel didn’t learn.
The second judgment was Exile. Jeremiah delivered the judgment (Jer 25). God allowed the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, to go up against Israel, destroy Jerusalem and the temple and take captives of the people. Israel was taken out of the Land for 70 years as a judgment and discipline by God. During this exile, Daniel received the 70 week prophecy detailing what would befall Israel in the latter times. The prophecy spoke of the restoration of Jerusalem, the temple and the people. It also spoke about the coming of messiah and how he would be cut off but not for himself. It spoke of the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple once again, which happened in AD70. Jesus spoke of this destruction just before he died in AD32.
During his ministry, it was clear Israel didn’t receive him as their promised Messiah and so, they rejected him and asked he would be crucified. This was Israel’s greatest sin and brought about their third judgment, Dispersion into the nations. After AD70, Israel lasted about another 70 years and then were dispersed around the world. God promised that he would bring Israel back into the Land in the latter times and that there would be a fourth judgment on them, Tribulation, also known as Jacob’s trouble and Daniel’s 70th week.
For 1800 years Israel was unheard of until May 14th, 1948. They had returned to their homeland and once again was a nation again. They’ve been prospering as the Bible predicted but also experiencing a growing hatred of all nations. Jesus spoke of this.
The 70th week begins for Israel when the antichrist rises up and signs a 7 year peace treaty between Israel and her many enemies.
A third temple will be built and sacrifices and offerings will resume. Halfway through this period, The Antichrist will take over the temple and proclaim himself to be God. He will demand worship and will introduce his beast system with a mark,666 on the forehead or the hand. Without this mark you won’t be able to buy, sell, travel, work etc. The purpose of this fourth judgment for Israel, is to judge Israel for her career of sin, judge the rebellious and save a remnant that will call on the Messiah. The Tribulation will see the 7 bowls of Gods wrath poured out on the nations that have risen up to destroy The Jewish people and Israel.
The Day of the Lord is set and cannot be changed. All the signs of the times can be see before our very eyes in current affairs.
Now, although judgment is set, God wants none to perish so he has sent Jesus to take judgment for all on the cross. God is commanding all men everywhere to repent and receive his salvation. The kingdom of God is coming and will bring renewal and restoration of all things. You can be a part of it. You can possess this living hope. How? Enter into the new covenant with God. Ask for his mercy. Ask for his forgiveness. Ask for deliverance and acceptance into his kingdom call on the Name of the Lord and you shall be saved!
Israel’s existence and presence in the Land today gives credibility and attests to the truth of the Bible!!
