A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Magic Day (maintenance and gardening in church) today at Christ Church.

So much work happens quietly behind the scenes to keep our church and hall safe, welcoming, and ready for worship week by week. Today was a wonderful example of people serving together with generosity and care. By tackling small jobs regularly, we help prevent them becoming much bigger problems in the future, all in support of the worship and mission that remain at the heart of church life.

Among the many jobs completed today were:

• fitting new lighting in the vestry
• removing wax from carpets
• polishing brassware
• removing graffiti and re-straining the pews
• lots of weeding, pruning and general maintenance in the gardens
• painting a new chalk area for Children’s Church in the hall
• clearing gutters
• deep cleaning the church and hall
• replacing light bulbs
• inspecting the roofline and replacing loose slates

And much more

A special thank you as well to Jacqueline and Lorna for keeping everyone refreshed with food and drinks throughout the morning, it was very much appreciated!

Thank you all for giving your time, energy, and skills so willingly. Many hands truly do make light work, and your care helps keep our church a place of welcome, worship, and witness in the community.

Today we joined with churches from across the Diocese of Blackburn in Blackpool to celebrate 100 years of the diocese, a joyful day of worship, fellowship, and thanksgiving led by Bishop Philip and Bishop Jill around the centenary theme: All for Jesus.

Although the weather was cold and wet, the welcome and worship were wonderfully warm. It was such an encouragement to gather with so many people from different churches and communities, united in faith and hope, celebrating all that God has done and looking ahead to all that He is still doing.

One of the strongest messages from the day was a simple invitation: come and see.

So whether you’ve been part of church for years, haven’t been for a long time, or are simply curious and searching for something more, you would be so welcome to join us tomorrow.

If life feels uncertain, heavy, or you feel a little lost right now, know that there is a place for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come. There is always room for one more.
