Today we have raised the Pride flag outside Christ Church as a visible reminder that God loves all his children.

We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

We will continue to challenge the Church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity,
learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity or sexuality.

A Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.

“When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” (Genesis 9:16)

The rainbow is a sign of God’s faithfulness, mercy and promise. It reminds us that God’s love reaches across every boundary and that all people are invited to know that love.

Whoever you are, wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here.

At Christ Church, we raise the Pride flag not to change the Gospel, but to proclaim it: God’s love is for everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Magic Day (maintenance and gardening in church) today at Christ Church.

So much work happens quietly behind the scenes to keep our church and hall safe, welcoming, and ready for worship week by week. Today was a wonderful example of people serving together with generosity and care. By tackling small jobs regularly, we help prevent them becoming much bigger problems in the future, all in support of the worship and mission that remain at the heart of church life.

Among the many jobs completed today were:

• fitting new lighting in the vestry
• removing wax from carpets
• polishing brassware
• removing graffiti and re-straining the pews
• lots of weeding, pruning and general maintenance in the gardens
• painting a new chalk area for Children’s Church in the hall
• clearing gutters
• deep cleaning the church and hall
• replacing light bulbs
• inspecting the roofline and replacing loose slates

And much more

A special thank you as well to Jacqueline and Lorna for keeping everyone refreshed with food and drinks throughout the morning, it was very much appreciated!

Thank you all for giving your time, energy, and skills so willingly. Many hands truly do make light work, and your care helps keep our church a place of welcome, worship, and witness in the community.
