So good to welcome Virginia Lloyd, Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale, together with other Deputy Lieutenants from across Calderdale to the Minster this morning as we marked the 4th anniversary of King Charles 3rd, Accession to the throne with beautiful music sung by the Minster Choir.

Tomorrow morning at the 10.30am Sung Eucharist the Minster will mark the 4th anniversary of the Kings Accession. This is the day the Queen died and Charles automatically became King, and preparations for his Coronation began. Why do we do this? Because the King and not the Archbishop of Canterbury is the Head of the Church of England AND following an act of Parliament all the monastic land belonging to the Benedictine community who founded the Minster was given over to the Crown, and ever since the Vicar of Halifax has been appointed not by the bishop but by the Crown through the Prime Minister's Appointment Secretary. We look forward to welcoming Virginia Lloyd as Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and all the Calderdale DLs, the Mayor of Calderdale, and the Minster Choir as term begins.

Huge congratulations to the Minster Choir on a very successful tour to Derby and Lichfield Cathedrals to much acclaim. The tour finished today at Alton Towers as children and adults had a fun day out and time to let their hair down.
