Midweek Encouragement

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” — Psalm 27:14

Sorry for the DELAY in posting our midweek reflection. This week we have seen some answers to prayer that have come after a period of delay. I have spent some time over the last weeks and months searching scripture for encouragement and an understanding about what we do when delays come.

Throughout Scripture, God's people experienced delays:

Abraham waited years for the promised child.

Joseph endured betrayal and prison before stepping into his purpose.

David was anointed king long before he wore the crown.

Lazarus was not immediately healed when Jesus received news of his illness.

In each case, God's delay was not God's absence. The waiting season became part of the preparation.

Delays often test what immediate answers never could. They reveal whether our trust is in God's timing or only in the outcome we desire. What feels like inactivity from our perspective may actually be God arranging circumstances, shaping character, opening doors, or protecting us from stepping ahead of His plan.

What if the delay you're experiencing is not a denial, but a space where God is doing unseen work?

The Lord's timing may not match our schedule, but Scripture consistently shows that His faithfulness does not expire while we wait.

Keep walking faithfully. A delayed answer is not evidence of a forgotten prayer. God is still at work, even in the waiting.

Midweek Encouragement

As we move through this week, take a moment to reflect on the words of Proverbs 3:5:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

Life often presents situations that we cannot explain or understand. We may wonder why certain doors close, why prayers seem delayed, or why the path ahead appears uncertain. In those moments, God calls us to trust Him completely, not just when things make sense, but especially when they don't.

Our understanding is limited, but God's wisdom is infinite. He sees what we cannot see and knows what is best for us. Even when the path ahead feels unclear, He is faithfully guiding every step.

This week, choose faith over fear and trust over worry. Surrender the things you cannot control and rest in the assurance that God is working behind the scenes for your good and His glory.

Midweek Encouragement – Ephesians 4:32

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

In the middle of a busy week, it’s easy to become distracted by pressure, frustration, or disappointment. Ephesians 4:32 calls us to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving.

Kindness can change someone’s entire day. Compassion allows us to see people through God’s eyes instead of through irritation or judgment. Forgiveness releases us from bitterness and reminds us of the mercy we have already received through Christ.

Sometimes the greatest testimony of faith is not in grand gestures, but in how we respond to people daily. A gentle word, patience in difficult moments, or choosing grace over anger reflects the love of Jesus more than we realise.

🙌 Sunday round-up: This morning Steven led us through Colossians 4:7–18, reflecting on what it means to be one in Christ. Paul's closing greetings remind us that God's family is made up of people with different backgrounds, histories, gifts, and roles, yet united by grace and a shared purpose.

We were encouraged to seek forgiveness, value our shared stories, and recognise the importance of communication, prayer, and encouragement within the church. As life brings unexpected challenges, we are called to hold firmly to God's grace and prepare our hearts to remain faithful in difficult times.

Paul's challenge to "complete the ministry" reminds us to be diligent in the work God has given each of us. Ultimately, we were reminded that one of the most powerful witnesses to the world is simply for the church to be the church.

We finished our Sunday with an encouraging and inspiring time during our Q&A this evening with Derek Burnside, Principal of Capernwray. It was fascinating to hear how God has led him on a remarkable journey of faith—from Edinburgh to Manchester, Liverpool, then Exeter, and finally to Capernwray. As Derek reflected on each stage of his life, it was clear that he could see God's hand guiding and directing his path, often in unexpected ways. His story was a powerful reminder that God is faithful in leading His people, step by step, and that we can trust Him even when we don't yet see the bigger picture.
