Trinity Church Buxton We're a church family passionate about making Jesus known and we would love to welcome you! We enjoy the independence of “proprietary chapel” status.

We are a Anglican Evangelical church established in 1873 and part of the Church of England. Effectively this means we are an Anglican congregation but without a parish. Our Minister is ordained in the Church of England and licensed by the Bishop of Derby. We are primarily concerned with biblical, evangelical Christianity. We hold to the historic creeds, the Reformed doctrine of the 39 Articles (th

e doctrinal basis of the Church of England) and the Anglican understanding that ordained leaders of local congregations are to be pastor teachers of the Bible. However we recognise the need for continual spiritual reformation under the Word of God and commit ourselves to that.

Maybe it's anger that boils over with our children or harsh words with our spouse. Maybe it's unkind words to a housemate or friend. Maybe we overindulge or overspend to make ourselves feel better. Maybe sexual te.ptation is too strong. Maybe your struggle is another one. How can we change? Religion can't help us. Only the gospel has the power to truly change us.

A comedy show about the Bible? Yes!

🕢 Wednesday 22nd July, 7.30pm at Trinity Church.

In God, the Bible and Everything, BBC comedy writer and 'stand-up theologian' James Cary explains the whole Bible, in one hour, with jokes and a big screen. And a song that you probably already know.

In this fast-moving show, written and developed for audiences of all ages, all faiths and none, James Cary shows how familiar Bible stories still in our culture like Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, David and Goliath and Jesus all fit together. Can he really get through all that in 60 minutes? It will be fun finding out!

James Cary is an extremely experienced comedy writer, with a track record of making audiences laugh out loud. That's been his job for 20 years, writing episodes of Miranda, My Family, My Hero and Citizen Khan for BBC TV and Hut 33, Think the Unthinkable and Another Case of Milton Jones for BBC Radio 4 – all filmed in front of studio audiences.

What an encouragement this morning to hear of God at work as Ewan reaffirmed his baptism vows! In his testimony, we heard of Ewan's love for the Lord Jesus, who 'met him where he was in the darkness, showed him the path to his light, and welcomed him home.' Amen! 🙌

Raising children in a digital world is full of challenges and reports of the impact of smartphones on our children and young people can fill us with fear and confusion. This morning, Dr. Robin Barfield from Oak Hill College joined us at our Refresh session for parents to help us consider how we can wisely and faithfully guide our children in a world full of screens.

It was great to be able to discuss, share our concerns, and encourage one another. What a blessing to do life together in community!

Some takeaways:
* all technology can be used to bless or to curse. Digital technology is no different - there is good as well as bad to be found in it.
* we may all land in different places in the decisions we make on this issue and that's ok. We know our own children best - what's right for one family might not be right for another.
* we need to keep praying for wisdom, provide appropriate boundaries, and keep the conversation going with our kids as we help them navigate around the potholes in the digital world.

The good news of Jesus is for *everyone*, so we want to make our church as accessible as we can for everyone, including those with disabilities and differences. As well as level access points, accessible toilet facilities, and a hearing loop, we now also have a sensory support toolkit and a variety of coloured overlays for use with either our large-print or standard-font Bibles & service sheets. These are at the back of church on the Bible bookcase - if you would find any of these tools helpful, please help yourself or speak to a Welcomer if you need assistance.

We hope that these tools help more people, adults and children alike, to feel welcomed and able to get to know Jesus better. If there are other ways we can make Trinity more accessible for you or your family, do let us know.
