Vision: To be creative followers of Jesus and see God revealed to and in all people. To discuss and reflect on our own journey and perspective.

Mission: To gather as a community and embrace people anywhere on their journey with God. To share our perspectives and experiences of worship whether in music, literature, film, social justice or art. To create individual and community worship to God and apply to our daily lives. Values:

Welcoming – to be hospitable and inclusive to all. Challenging – to participate in an environment pursuing growth. Respectful – to recognise that we will all have different perspectives, theologies, experiences, backgrounds, expressions and passions and very likely we will not all share these and need to honour each other. Safe – no matter where you are on a journey with God you are part of the community. Honest – a place where you feel you can be you.

A very special Resonate gathering yesterday evening. Dr Sheona Beaumont, visual artist and writer, spoke about her latest project - The Bright Fields. Sheona is currently the Artist in Residence for the Athelstan Pilgrim Way. Inspired by the Psalms in the Bible, the landscape around Malmesbury Abbey, and medieval illuminated manuscripts, she is creating her own photographic psalter, consisting of landscape photographs and poetry. As she talked, and showed images of her work, it really felt as though we were going with her on a pilgrimage.

Resonate meetings are varied and interesting. On Tuesday 3rd November we will welcome two guests, a hospital chaplain and a local community chaplain, to tell us about their work. Do join us!

What a lovely time we had in the Saint Stephen's garden this week, for the Resonate annual barbecue. We were delighted to be joined by Silver Street Poetry. The combination of yummy food, entertaining and thought-provoking poetry, and friendly people was wonderful. Resonate will take a summer break now, returning in the autumn with our usual eclectic and creative range of topics. Next gathering on Tuesday 6th October, 7.30 pm in the Saint Stephen's cafe.

Such a good evening yesterday, hearing Annie Evans talking about modern slavery. We heard some sad stories, but also found out what to do if you think someone might need help. Annie gave a really clear presentation, and we had the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss some real-life cases. If you'd like to learn more, or report a concern, see the Unseen website: https://www.unseenuk.org/

Our next gathering in the cafe at Saint Stephen's church will be on Tuesday 2nd June. We'll be learning more about such an important topic: Modern Slavery. We're very glad to welcome Annie Evans, who works with Unseen, the anti-slavery charity. Come along to learn about their work, and ask questions. The usual arrangements - we gather at 7.30 pm for a light supper, hot drinks and chat. The meeting will run from 8.00 to 9.00 pm. Everyone welcome, just turn up.

Big thank you to Patrick Stonehewer for a fascinating talk with slides, about his pilgrimage from Cape Wrath (north west Scotland) to Dover (south east England). Wow! Such an epic challenge, and so interesting to hear about all the practical details, the wonderful people he met on the way, the number of churches he visited, the varied weather and landscapes. Patrick described how this was a spiritual journey, as well as a physical one. If you'd like to read more, there's a link to his blog in the comment below.
