We join with churches across the diocese in praying for those affected by the fires.

As communities across our region face the impact of devastating fires, the Bishops of Birmingham and Aston pray for all affected.

“We are deeply saddened by the fires that have affected communities across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.

“We hold in our prayers those who have seen their homes damaged or destroyed, those who have been evacuated, and all who are frightened by the fires and smoke.

“We give thanks for the emergency services who are working tirelessly to keep people safe, and for the neighbours and communities who are looking out for one another.

“In times like this, we are reminded how much we depend on one another. Our prayer is that those who are frightened or grieving will know the strength and kindness of those around them.”

Congratulations to Beau, one of our Ascenders on his amazing achievements at the Karate World Cup last week.

Beau achieved the following;

World gold individual junior black belt kumite champion,
World gold junior team black belt kumite champion
World bronze junior belt black continuous kumite champion.

Today we said our goodbyes to Nick and Maggie as Nick begins his, well earned, retirement.

Nick joined us as curate 12 years ago and has stayed working alongside David and then working tirelessly over the last 12 months of interregnum. Maggie has played a vital role in her pastoral care of homebound members as well as her care for those she sees in person too.

Nick and Maggie, your absence will be keenly felt but we all wish you all the best as you journey on. We look forward to seeing you again soon(ish.)
