This past Sunday, we continued our Simply Mark series by exploring Mark 10 and the ways Jesus challenged the norms and expectations of his time. Through a series of encounters, Jesus revealed Kingdom values that turned conventional ideas about power, status, and relationships upside down.

Together, we reflected on what these teachings might mean for us today and how we can live out the radically different way of Jesus in our own lives and communities.

For a few years now, our leadership team has been tracking along with an emerging denomination/network called The Good Table. Some of you have heard us talking about events that they have held, and we hosted their local event last year here at 22 Willow.

This fall they are hosting an event at Crieff Hills Retreat Centre, and we wanted to pass along the invitation to anyone who would like to join. Please let us know if you register, as there may be others who would be interested in carpooling!

This past Sunday, we continued our "Simply Mark" series by exploring what happens when even Jesus’ closest disciples struggle to make sense of his teachings (Mark 8–9). Drawing on the ancient practice of "Midrash", we considered how questioning, wrestling with, and imagining the stories of Scripture can help us develop a healthier, more human relationship with the Bible.

Together, we reflected on how Scripture isn’t the ultimate destination, but an invitation to encounter the living, liberating love embodied in Christ. We were reminded that we don’t need to have every answer or make every piece fit to bring our questions, curiosity, and honest doubts into our faith.

If you’ve ever felt like you were doing faith wrong because you couldn’t make all the pieces fit - this space is for you.

This Sunday, as we continue our series through the Gospel of Mark, we’re looking at what happens when even the closest disciples get things completely upside-down (Mark 8–9). Drawing on the ancient practice of midrash - the art of stepping into the Bible’s quiet gaps to question, wrestle, and imagine - we’re discovering a healthier, more human way to hold Scripture.

The Bible isn’t meant to be the ultimate destination. Like Moses and Elijah stepping back on the mountain, the text willingly steps aside so we can focus on what actually matters: the living, liberating love embodied in Christ.

Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your honest doubts. You don't need to have every gap filled in to belong here. We'll see you Sunday!

This past Sunday, we continued our Simply Mark series by asking questions about the nature and purpose of biblical story. Together, we explored Mark not simply as a concise, historical account of Jesus’ life, but as an invitation to curiosity and imagination—opening ourselves to experiencing Jesus beyond some of the demands we often place on Scripture.
