This past Sunday, our youth took over the gathering at 22 Willow—and they did an incredible job! From welcoming and worship, to announcements, connection time, and even the message, they led every aspect of the morning. It was a joy to see their gifts, leadership, and creativity on display as they guided our community through the service.

While we may not fully understand all that is to come, we explored the encouragement found in scripture that reminds us we are participating with God in the ongoing renewal of the “very good Gospel.” Together, we considered the mystery of the Gospel and the hope of the renewal of all things.

This past Sunday, we continued our Unfolding Gospel series by asking what might seem like an obvious question: What does Jesus have to do with the gospel? Together, we reflected on whether we can explain our understanding of “the gospel” through the story and teachings of Jesus himself—not only through the writings of Paul, Peter, or John. As we explored these questions, we considered how Jesus doesn’t simply fit into the gospel story, but stands at its very centre.

What does Jesus have to do with the gospel? This may sound like a ridiculous question. The answer may feel irritatingly obvious. But are we able to explain our ideas around the gospel from the story of Jesus? Are we able to explain what we mean by 'the gospel' without Paul, or Peter, or John? Continuing our series on The Unfolding Gospel, we take a look at how Jesus not only fits in, but sits at the core of the gospel story.

Earlier today, we explored the idea that some of the most unsettling parts of our tradition might actually carry deep hope. Together, we looked at the “destruction” described in the Gospel—not as the destruction of people, but as the dismantling of everything that keeps us from fully experiencing and extending the love we were made for.

We reflected on a vision of judgment that moves us beyond fear and toward radical wholeness, learning to trust the fierce, refining light of Love to complete the work it has begun.

Yesterday, we continued with the second week of our Unfolding Gospel series. After beginning with the goodness of Shalom—the peace and wholeness God intended for all of creation—we turned our attention to the reality that so much of the world is not experiencing that fullness today. Together, we asked: what has gone wrong? Where do we find our hope for salvation? And what are we being saved for? As we explored these questions through the sermon, we were invited to carry the conversation forward into our Neighbours Groups and daily lives.

We are continuing with the second week of our “Unfolding Gospel” series this Sunday. We began last week by spending some time reflecting on the goodness (Shalom) that God intended for all of creation, and how that dream extends to even today. However, we don’t have to look long and hard to see that so much of creation is not experiencing and living in this shalom. So, what is wrong? Where do we find our hope for salvation?
