At different times in my life as a follower of Jesus, I've seen people divided almost exclusively over things that don't matter. I've seen churches divide about the pastors they've hired; I've seen churches divide over music (drums in particular) and I've seen churches divide over masks and whether to wear them or not. This coming Sunday we finish the Right On series looking at how we can guard against division in the body of Christ. Come join us at 11am (one service only) and then stay for the SOS (Soup and Salad) lunch after church.

Let's draw near to the Lord and trust He will draw near to us! Hope to see you there!

If you think about it, its pretty amazing to be a part of the family of God. All different sorts of people and cultures and languages tossed together into this thing called church. Church is more than what we do its alwaos who we are. We are the body, the building and the bride of Jesus and we have to work together to build the kingdom of God.

Come join us this coming Sunday as we gather to praise the King, serve alongside each other, give, pray and hear from God's Word together. Two services are back on at 9 and 11am. Invite a friend and hope to see you there!

PS--the lift is down this Sunday but we'll live stream the service in the lounge at the 11am service for those who are unable to navigate the stairs.

THE MOUSE IN THE VENTS
(A truck, a nest, and why you should not put off the free gift of salvation)

This week we found an uninvited tenant in my truck. A mouse had built a nest inside the ventilation system. Droppings were scattered through the cabin. It could not have been there more than about a week, yet it left a surprising amount of mess and hassle. Thankfully it had not yet chewed any wires or caused permanent damage. We caught it in time.

A small creature, hidden in a place we do not look every day, can quickly make a mess of the whole vehicle. That is a picture of how easily we put off what matters most.

Jesus offers salvation as a free gift—not earned by cleaning up our own lives first but received by faith.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23

The danger is delay. People say, “I’ll deal with that later. I have time.” Scripture says otherwise.

“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.” — 2 Corinthians 6:2

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15

“You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” — James 4:14

The rich fool in Luke 12 stored up plans for many years; that night his life was required of him.

The mouse did not wait for an invitation. It simply moved in. Unbelief and procrastination work the same way. A week of neglect was enough to fill the cab with evidence. Do not wait until the damage is done. The gift is free. The invitation is open. Today is the day. Receive Christ while there is still time.

OUT OF MY MIND
Pastoral Blog

Our family just got back from an extended time away. We had three weeks of holidays. As I reflected on our time, I realized this time of rest was definitely needed.

Such is the nature of rest. It comes when we need it, but sometimes it doesn’t come at all, because we’re not taking it.
You may not realize that the etymology of the word holiday is two words shoved together, holy and day. A holiday from work, is supposed to be a holy day. A day to rest and reflect and spend time with God and just rest in his presence and his peace.

That can be hard because of the busyness of life. Some of you are stay at home moms constantly chasing after toddlers and it’s hard to rest during this stage of life. Others of you are in business and in charge of multiple staff and big money transactions and it’s hard to rest from that because work often comes home to roost in our minds as we strive to sleep.

Regardless of what stage of life you are in, or what business adventure brings home a paycheck, you need rest! God did not make us to go, go, go 24/7, 365. We need times to unplug, to refresh, so that we can be better when we get back.
Psalm 62:1-2 reminds us that “my soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.”

Yes, at times we need to find that rest because it’s hard to find. Life just keeps coming at us. The deadline keeps looming. But here’s something to think about.

Your home will still be intact if you spend some time away from it. Your kids will still be alive, it you spend some time with your spouse, away from them. Your job, and the business will go on without you.

So, it’s time to unplug; actually, unplug and get rest! Remember, rest needs to be strategic. You’ll have to schedule it and you’ll have to plan it. Ensure part of that plan is to rest in God. To have your soul connect with the heart of God by resting in him.

Jesus invites us to “Come to him all you who are weary and burdened and he will give you rest.”
