What a beautiful day for two of our parishioners to the Permanent Deaconate this morning. Mass and the Ordination were celebrated by Bishop Daniel Miehm beginning at 11am at St. Peter-in-Chains Cathedral. Sean Dunlop and Nicolas DuBonnet have studied the last 4 years for this day. St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish and their families are very proud of them. I'm sure we will see a lot of them now as part of being a Deacon is helping our pastor celebrate Mass. Congratulations!

Please join us on Saturday May 30 to celebrate the Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate of Sean Dunlop, Peter Bagnall and Nicolas DuBonnet! Mass is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Peter-in-Chains, followed by a reception at the Knights Hall. All are welcome.

The St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus are gearing up for their annual yard sale, Saturday, June 6th, 810 Frank St. If you would like to donate any items, please call Peter at 705-748-3055 to make arrangements. Otherwise, PLEASE COME! for lots of new to you items - the upper parish hall and parking lot filled for you to peruse! And the CWL will have lots of baking to buy as well.

Brock Mission, Cameron House and Redpath Wellness Centre all use a lot of coffee, tea, sugar and whitener. St. Alphonsus Liguori CWL decided to have members bring some to their meeting in May. What a response! Thank you ladies!

The CWL councils of St. Peter's Cathedral and St. Alphonsus Liguori co-sponsored a presentation last Thursday evening by Dr. Peggy Shaughnessy of Peterborough and her daughter Liz Shaughnessy-Rowe at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. Dr. Peggy founded the Redpath Wellness Centre where she developed her community-based healing programs that address the emotional and social roots of addiction, violence, trauma and disconnection. Her talk was very informative. They encourage people by kindness and community to find the root of their addiction. Their motto: Everyone has the Right to Heal!

What a great final Seniors Faith Café to finish before summer. (We will be back October 6th) After Mass, guest speaker, Mary Helen Moes, spoke on basically her life's mission to save babies and help mothers. While she was executive director for Aid to Women in Toronto they saved 900 babies from being aborted. Mary Helen single handedly saved enough babies to fill 4 kindergarten classrooms! What an inspiration! After the presentation, the Knights of Columbus served up hotdogs and hamburgs with cookies and sweets for dessert. Delicious! Thanks also to Jackie and Betty for getting everything ready in the hall each month. See you in October!

This Sunday, April 12th, is Divine Mercy Sunday. Please join us at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church at 3pm for a beautiful prayer service and music. We will have Adoration, pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Litany in Praise of the Divine Mercy plus more. "God loves us—all of us, no matter how great our sins," and asks us to trust and extend that mercy to others.
