The rain didn't stop us from having a beautiful Eucharistic Procession inside the church. Fr. Simmy led children carrying candles and throwing flower petals on the 'path'. Andrew followed, incensing the Blessed Sacrament which was carried by Fr. Chima. Our new deacons, Sean and Nic followed behind. Andrea and the choir sang throughout the procession. After the procession we had cake to congratulate Nic and Sean on their Ordinations. About 150 people were served. It was so buy we forgot to take pictures! Thank you to Michelle, Doris, Jackie, Judy, Bruce, Ryan, Brad and anyone else who stepped up to help. Thank you.

Join us this Sunday, June 14th after the 11am Mass for a Eucharistic Procession around the front of the church property.
This sacred tradition is a public witness of our faith and a powerful expression of our love for Jesus truly present in the Eucharist. By carrying the Blessed Sacrament in solemn procession, we proclaim to the world that Christ is among us and continues to nourish, lead, and sanctify His people.
AND CONGRATULATIONS!
AFTER the procession we will have a congratulatory celebration with cake on the front lawn for our new Permanent Deacons, Sean Dunlop and Nicolas DuBonnet!

Tonight the St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Women's League had a wonderful evening celebrating 35 years as a league with about 45 members in attendance. Ladies who founded the group 35 years ago as well as all the presidents during the years were remembered, and those in attendance received a yellow rose. It was also the last meeting night before summer break so we had our annual 'picnic' with chicken and lots of delicious potluck main courses and a huge beautiful cake for dessert to celebrate the anniversary.

St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus giant yard sale, June 6th was another great success! A whole room and parking lot full of new you items. The Knights also offered hamburgs and hot dogs and the CWL had two tables full of baked goods which all went! The rain held off and lots of people came through. Thanks to all the workers, those who donated as well as all who came to buy goodies. A great day by all!

What a beautiful day for two of our parishioners to the Permanent Deaconate this morning. Mass and the Ordination were celebrated by Bishop Daniel Miehm beginning at 11am at St. Peter-in-Chains Cathedral. Sean Dunlop and Nicolas DuBonnet have studied the last 4 years for this day. St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish and their families are very proud of them. I'm sure we will see a lot of them now as part of being a Deacon is helping our pastor celebrate Mass. Congratulations!

Please join us on Saturday May 30 to celebrate the Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate of Sean Dunlop, Peter Bagnall and Nicolas DuBonnet! Mass is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Peter-in-Chains, followed by a reception at the Knights Hall. All are welcome.

The St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus are gearing up for their annual yard sale, Saturday, June 6th, 810 Frank St. If you would like to donate any items, please call Peter at 705-748-3055 to make arrangements. Otherwise, PLEASE COME! for lots of new to you items - the upper parish hall and parking lot filled for you to peruse! And the CWL will have lots of baking to buy as well.

The CWL councils of St. Peter's Cathedral and St. Alphonsus Liguori co-sponsored a presentation last Thursday evening by Dr. Peggy Shaughnessy of Peterborough and her daughter Liz Shaughnessy-Rowe at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. Dr. Peggy founded the Redpath Wellness Centre where she developed her community-based healing programs that address the emotional and social roots of addiction, violence, trauma and disconnection. Her talk was very informative. They encourage people by kindness and community to find the root of their addiction. Their motto: Everyone has the Right to Heal!
