When the waters rise
and familiar paths disappear,
when the ground beneath your feet
no longer feels quite steady,
remember this.
God isn't waiting
on the other side of the storm,
where skies are clear
and rivers have returned
to their banks.
God is here,
where rain beats against windows,
where fear finds its way
into the quiet places
of your heart.
And you don't need to be brave
every moment,
or pretend the rising waters
don't frighten you.
For faith isn't
the absence of fear,
but the gentle assurance
that you're not alone.
Look for God
in the hands reaching out,
in the kindness of strangers,
in the love that finds a way
through flooded streets.
And when the waters fall
and the earth grows still,
may you remember
that grace was there
all along.
For no storm can carry you
beyond the reach
of God's love.
Whispers of Grace
