Today is Holy Saturday - a day of waiting, watching and prayer as the One who was Incarnate is now laying in the cold dark tomb.
But we know and we trust that this is not the end.
We know and trust that the Resurrection is coming.

So be sure to join us tomorrow morning to Celebrate the Risen Christ at our sister church St. Mary Nanoose Bay. The service will be at 10am and all are welcome to join us!!

Blessed Easter to all,
Rev. Kirsten

A reflection for Good Friday...
Written by Rev. Kirsten

Darkness is looming
The clouds grow ever near
As the One who is unblemished
Is dragged to the hill
Picking up his cross
Rough and heavy
Splintering against bare skin
Splintering into open wounds
With every weary step.
Onlookers watch from the crowd
Some in fear
Some in sorrow
Some simply curious
As the King of the Jews
Is led away to the hill.
Stumbling he falls
Weak and worn he is
Simon steps in to help
The load is just too great
His loved ones watch
Agony in their hearts
Love so strong
They can not look away.
The weight grows heavier still
Each step slower
Each step more painful
Stripped and humiliated
As the crowds become restless
The cross is taken from him
And lined up for final blows
The sound sounds in thr valley
Of the nails piercing
Flesh, bone, and wood…
Each hammer swing falls
Eith agut wrenching thud
And yet...
Still he offers comfort
Still he offers family
Still he offers grace
Still he offers hope
The final cry in anguish
Trusting in his Fathers will
A plan long set just for him
Darkness looms ever closer
Giving up his final breath
This life an offering of love
Until the very end...

A Maundy Thursday Reflection
(especially for those unable to join us at St. Mary's tonight )
~ by Rev. Kirsten

Tonight is a night....
Of broken bread
Of hands wide open
Ready to receive
Ready to take in
That which is offered
By the One they call friend.
Tonight is a night...
Of broken promises
Of hands shaking and uncertain
Waiting to grasp
Waiting to give up
Accepting silver over safety
For the One that he called friend...
Tonight is a night...
Of broken hearts
Of hands lifted up high
Praying for another way
Praying His will be done
A fate that no one wishes
For the One they call friend
Tonight is a night....
Of lives broken open...
Of broken lives restored
Of hands accepting grace
Tonight is about lives
Broken open
By hands in humble service
By hands outstretched in love
As the Holy One
Stoops down low
With towel water
To serve and to cleanse
To restore and renew
As the Holy One Gives
Of Himself
To love beyond measure
To show a new way
Tonight is a night...
Of much brokenness
Of many hands
Of lives about to be
Broken open
By love.

Friends - recent studies show that direct access to Creation - fresh air, bird song, falling leaves and more can deepen our sense of connectedness to God and Creation. And so we are trying something new and raising the roof on St. Anne's to be able to allow greater access to God and the created world when we gather for worship this summer!

So be sure to keep an eye out - as we open up and welcome all - especially birds and squirrels 😉😁
