Thought for the day: Disciples went for a three-year degree course in the University of Jesus. Interestingly, this university did not have set syllabus. No pen or paper or classroom was used. It was an on-the-field training. At the final exam, most of them could not fare well for the farewell of their Master who taught them tirelessly. Someone even went back to their old profession of fishing after Jesus died. But the very same disciples who could not fare well on the day of crucifixion of Jesus, suddenly found a rejuvenated strength.
Very seldom Jews and Romans would have understood the sudden transformation of these disciples who even died for Jesus as they went all across the world. This is the power of resurrection. Acts 1:8 says: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
When the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, they received power. They witnessed to everyone they met. They witnessed to Jerusalem (their own family), all Judea (their distant relatives) and Samaria (even to the ones who were enemies or rivals) and to the ends of the earth.
If we are filled with the Holy Spirit, then we have received power. The power to witness to everyone we meet. I sincerely pray that we will truly believe in the supremacy of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
