On Friday, Oct. 2, more than 1,000 Catholics from across central Alberta will meet at the Archbishop's Dinner for the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. This annual gathering is an opportunity to celebrate our shared faith, and this year we will hear Archbishop Stephen Hero share his vision for the Archdiocese for the first time since his installation in January.

Every year, every member of our community can attend this dinner because of donations from parishes and attendees! To buy tickets, follow the link below and add the option to "Support a Seminarian."

We give thanks for the seminarians discerning God's call to serve His Church.

Forty seminarians from nine dioceses are studying at St. Joseph Seminary, including 16 seminarians for the Archdiocese of Edmonton. We are especially grateful to welcome eight new seminarians as they begin this journey of formation.

We also celebrate the 28 young men who participated in theCome and See Weekend, taking time to prayerfully explore a vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

These signs of hope reflect our pastoral priority of Formation for Confident Witness —encouraging one another to courageously respond to Christ's call and joyfully serve His people.

"Deacons are called to make Christ the Servant visible in the world."

With gratitude and joy, we congratulate Deacons Andrew Sheedy and Daniel Sale, who were ordained to the transitional diaconate for the Archdiocese of Edmonton. The transitional diaconate is the stage of ordained ministry that immediately precedes ordination to the priesthood in the Catholic Church

In his homily, Archbishop Stephen Hero reminds us that the diaconate is a ministry of humble service — proclaiming the Gospel, caring for those in need, and building up the Church through lives shaped by Christ's love.

Please join us in praying for Deacon Andrew and Deacon Daniel as they begin this sacred ministry. May the Holy Spirit strengthen them with wisdom, compassion, and joyful hearts as they serve God's people.
