🚨ANNOUNCEMENT: New Pilot Project Launched to Support Women in Crisis
WINGS is proud to be part of a new regional initiative launched on July 2nd that improves how people experiencing domestic violence can access shelter and support.
In collaboration with .211.ca and other Edmonton-area shelters, this pilot allows individuals to call just one number — 211 — to be connected to available beds and resources across the region.
Instead of making multiple calls while in crisis, people fleeing violence can now access help faster and more compassionately — with one call, one connection, and quicker access to safety.
💛 “This pilot is about removing barriers, not adding them,” says Candace Smallwood, Executive Director of WINGS. “It reflects everything we stand for: compassion, dignity, and timely access to safety.”
This project brings together WIN House, A Safe Place, Catholic Social Services, Sage Seniors Safe House, The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation, and WINGS, with coordination through 211 Alberta.
Together, we’re building a more connected, compassionate response for those fleeing violence.
📞 If you or someone you know needs support fleeing domestic violence, call 211. Support is available 24/7.
