SPAM EMAIL ALERT

People are receiving suspicious emails from "Pacific Mountain Region Council" prompting them to open a pdf document. And people are receiving them from "Daniel Martin" prompting them to donate gift cards.

Please be cautious with any email you receive from the region and our church.

Emails from the region (and national church) will end in -church.ca

Emails from Daniel end in .ca

Our biggest defense against scammers is educating ourselves.

Regional staff and congregations will not be emailing you to request gift cards or cash.

Remember:
Hover over email addresses. If an email appears suspicious, hover over or tap on the sender’s name (depending on the device) to reveal the actual email address. Does the email address match the name of the sender? Even if the name looks familiar, scammers often create fake addresses that appear similar to the real ones.

Call the alleged sender or office. Use a phone number you already have on file, not one from the email.

Do not reply, click on links or open strange documents. If you suspect a scam, do not engage. Delete it. Clicking links can expose you to phishing attempts.

Report the scam. If you receive a suspicious request, report it to your email provider as phishing.

Backpack Blessing

As we near the beginning of the school year, God is with us—with us at work, at school, in play, in rest.

Bring your backpacks (or briefcases or purses) to church on September 6th to be blessed and to be reminded that we are not alone, we live in God’s world and have neighbours to love all around us!

The Feast of Creation in Christ begins September 1st and we'll be joining in with Christians around the globe in celebrating this season in our calendar.

Join us at Pigeon Cove on the Port Moody Shoreline Trail for a short service of prayer, scripture, music and blessing. Please bring a container of water from your home or land to be blessed.

“In the Season of Creation, we turn again to Christ, through whom all things were made and in whom all things hold together. In his incarnation, death, and resurrection, God’s love is revealed not only for humanity but for the whole created order. To care for creation is therefore an essential expression of Christian discipleship and an integral mark of the Church’s mission: to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and to sustain and
renew the life of the earth. As we follow Christ, we are called to share in his reconciling work, seeking justice, healing, and hope for the earth and for all who dwell within it.” -The Most Rev. Sarah Mullally

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Our prayers are with all those affected by the shooting at a street festival in Toronto on Saturday night, where two men were killed and a number of others seriously injured.

Thousands of people were present at the Salsa on St. Clair festival when the shooting occurred, including families, children, and seniors.

Loving God we hold in prayer and concern communities in Toronto deeply affected by the recent shooting at a summer festival.

We pray for the victims and their families, those injured, and those providing medical care, the first responders, and those terrified from witnessing the events.

Bring your comfort, your justice and your healing, dear God.

In the name of the One who brings peace. Amen.
