**GOD MEETS US IN OUR PRIDE: NAAMAN**

Naaman was a powerful and respected commander—but he carried a need that his position, accomplishments, and influence could not overcome.

When God’s answer did not come in the way Naaman expected, pride nearly caused him to walk away. Healing came only when he set aside his expectations, listened to the voices around him, and humbly obeyed.

In this week’s message from 2 KINGS 5:1–15, we discover that God’s grace cannot be commanded, controlled, purchased, or earned. It can only be received.

As we also gather around the Lord’s Table, we are reminded that none of us comes because we have earned a place. We come with open hands, receiving again the grace Christ has freely given.

God meets us in our pride—not to shame us, but to lead us into surrender, healing, and new life.

What happens when God answers—but not in the way we expected?

Throughout our God Meets Us There series, we have seen God meet Hagar in the wilderness, Elijah in his exhaustion, and Habakkuk in his questions. This Sunday, God meets Naaman in his pride.

Naaman comes seeking a cure he believes he can arrange, purchase, and control. Instead, God offers him grace he can only receive. His story invites us to consider the expectations we carry, the control we struggle to release, and whether we are willing to trust God when His way looks different from our own.

We will also gather at the Communion table, where our rank, accomplishments, and pretences fall away. We come with open hands, remembering that salvation cannot be earned or purchased—it has been given to us through Jesus Christ.

Join us this Sunday at Coldbrook Baptist Church as we worship, hear God’s Word, share the bread and cup, and discover that even in our pride, God meets us there.

What happens when what we believe about God seems impossible to reconcile with what we see around us?

In Week 3 of our series, GOD MEETS US THERE, we meet the prophet HABAKKUK—a faithful man carrying difficult questions about violence, injustice, suffering, and the apparent silence of God. Yet God does not reject Habakkuk for asking. He invites him to watch, wait, and continue trusting.

Habakkuk begins by asking, “How long?” but finishes by declaring, “Yet I will rejoice.”

Join us as we reflect on Habakkuk 1:1–4; 2:1–4; and 3:17–19 and discover that honest questions are not the opposite of faith. We may not understand everything God is doing, but we can trust that He remains present and faithful.

What do we do when the world does not make sense, our prayers seem unanswered, and God appears to be silent?

Many of us carry questions we are afraid to say aloud. We may worry that asking them means our faith is weak. But the Bible does not hide from difficult questions—and neither does God.

On Sunday, August 30, we will continue our GOD MEETS US THERE series with:

"God Meets Us in Our Questions — Habakkuk"
Habakkuk 1:1–4; 2:1–4; 3:17–19

Habakkuk brings his confusion, frustration, and grief honestly before God. He does not receive quick or easy answers. Yet, as he questions and waits, he discovers that faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is continuing to bring our questions to God and trusting Him while we wait.

If you are carrying doubts, disappointment, grief, or a question you cannot resolve, you are welcome. You do not need to tidy up your faith before coming. Bring your whole heart—questions and all—and let us seek God together.
