Atlantic Society for Biblical Equality Atlantic Society for Biblical Equality (ASBE) Core Values: We believe the Bible teaches the equality of women and men.

We believe God has given each person gifts to be used for the good of Christ’s kingdom. We believe Christians are to develop and exercise their God-given gifts in the home, the church, and the world. We believe the Bible teaches that Christians are to oppose injustice. Core Purpose: To communicate broadly the biblical truth that men and women are equally responsible to act justly and use their God

-given gifts to further Christ’s kingdom. Envisioned Future: ASBE envisions a future where all believers will be encouraged to exercise their gifts for God’s glory and missional purposes, with the full support of their Christian communities. Adapted from Christians for Biblical Equality

But for history’s sake, they might ask if their biblical hermeneutic regarding women might in any way parallel their 19th-century slavery-based hermeneutic, remembering that the SBC was formed over Black folks’ “place at the table.”'

Had the holding of slaves been a moral evil, it cannot be supposed, that the inspired Apostles, who feared not the faces of men, and were ready to lay down their lives in the cause of their God, would have tolerated it, for a moment, in the Christian Church. If they had done so on...

"Butler observed that Christ liberated women in every interaction, releasing them from the bonds of tradition. She was determined to do likewise....I admire Josephine Butler for her bravery, perseverance, and willingness to address controversial issues. She inspires me to be both a Christian and a feminist."

Writes Dr. Erica Bowler from Kingswood University. Read more about this great champion for equality.

Growing up, my dad used to tell me stories about history. This gave me a great love for the subject, and I developed a special interest in women’s history. One of my favourite heroines is Josephine Butler (1828-1906), a British social reformer who fought for the rights of prostitutes. Many Victori...

From Genesis to Junia was intended as a research project on the egalitarian-complementarian debate with Preston postponing his conclusion until after his study. As such, the reader is taken on a journey though Scripture (stopping, for example, in Genesis 1-3, with Deborah in Judges, alongside dusty....
