In this final message of our Prayer series, we’re having an honest conversation about what prayer really looks like in everyday life.
Prayer isn’t about perfection or formulas.
It’s about walking with God honestly, daily, and consistently.
Please visit the midtown church website and watch the full service and grow deep in your prayer life.
See you next Sunday!!! 🙌🙏

Last Sunday, Pastor Darryn Botha continued the Prayer series with an important question.

What do you do when you pray… and God says no?

Not “wait.”
Not “maybe later.”
Just no.

In this message, we explore one of the hardest and most personal parts of faith: how to respond when God refuses the very thing we desperately want Him to change.

Using Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” in 2 Corinthians 12, we discover that God’s “no” is not rejection, punishment, or proof that your faith is weak. Sometimes, God says no because He’s doing something deeper than we can see.

In this sermon, we unpack:

* Why God’s “no” is not a reflection of weak faith
* The difference between punishment and loving discipline
* How God uses suffering to protect us from pride
* Why His grace is greater than our problems
* What God may be forming in us through unanswered prayer

We also look at practical ways to keep trusting God when the answer hurts:

* Keep praying
* Reframe the “no”
* Focus on God’s grace instead of your pain
* Anchor yourself in God’s character

📖 Key Scripture:

* 2 Corinthians 12:1–10
* Romans 8:1
* Hebrews 12:5–6
* James 1:2–4
* Romans 5:3–5

🙏 Sometimes God changes our circumstances.
Sometimes He changes us through them.

This Sunday we celebrate incredible women who represent love, strength, care, and dedication every single day. 💖

Being a mother is reflecting a little piece of God’s love through every hug, every prayer, every silent act of care, and every gesture of kindness.

On this Mother’s Day, we honor all mothers — biological mothers, mothers at heart, grandmothers, and every woman who nurtures, teaches, and inspires with genuine love.

“Her children arise and call her blessed.” — Proverbs 31:28 ✨

May God continue to strengthen, bless, and fill every mother with peace, joy, and wisdom. You are precious gifts from the Lord to your families. 🌸

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

Prayer isn’t about getting results- it’s about being with God.
God isn’t looking for more words. He is looking for your heart.
Prayer isn’t a performance- it’s a relationship.

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of welcoming Aiden Friedman from Jews for Jesus, who walked us through the richness and meaning of the Passover meal.
Together, we explored how each element of the meal points back to God’s faithfulness in the past—and forward to its fulfillment in Jesus. It was a powerful reminder that God has been telling one unified story of redemption from the very beginning.
Moments like these help us see Scripture with fresh eyes and deeper understanding.
Grateful for the opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow together.🙌🙌🙌🙌

This month was very special at Midtown Church. We finished the book of James, and each Sunday the Word truly challenged and strengthened us. 🙏🙏🙏

I highly recommend that you take some time to read James—it’s powerful and very relevant to our daily lives. The pastors also spoke about Hebrews, “ The call to perseverance,” the importance of persevering.🙌🙌🙌

If you want to delve deeper, you can visit the Midtown Church website. All services are recorded there, and there’s so much to learn from these books of the Bible!!!https://www.midtownchurch.ca/
