All are welcome this Friday, August 14, for our seniors' summer picnic, 11:30 am-1:00 pm at beautiful Gwynne Vaughn Park on Fairfield Island. We will have a potluck lunch, a message from Pastor Haberstock and plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company. This is a great event to invite friends and family to. We are not checking your ID at the gate, so all ages are most welcome.

A tragedy has occurred in downtown Chilliwack as another apartment fire has displaced many people. Please prayerfully consider supporting this effort to care for our neighbors in distress.

Most people know me as the owner of TYDEL FOODS, but what many don’t realize is that TYDEL FOODS has always been about more than food. It has always been about people. That’s why COMMUNITY ANGELS our Charity exists - to provide emergency response and stand beside our community when tragedy strikes.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by last night’s devastating apartment fire at Spadina and Mary Street.

Before anything else, I want to recognize the incredible firefighters and first responders. Watching these men and women work together with such courage, professionalism and determination was truly inspiring. They risked their own safety to protect others and our community is deeply grateful for everything they did.

As part of our emergency response, COMMUNITY ANGELS immediately responded at the scene with water, food and support for those who had been displaced. We spent several hours helping families and first responders however we could.

Last night was also a beautiful reminder of what community truly means. While we were out responding to help others, the power outage meant we had to quickly empty our shop and move all of our refrigerated food into our walk-in coolers. So many people stepped forward without hesitation to help us save our food. To every person who lifted a box, carried supplies and gave up part of their evening to help us - thank you. Because you helped us, we’ll be able to continue helping others. We responded to help our community, and our community responded to help us. That is something we will never forget.

Today we are asking our community to come together once again.

We are collecting:
• Clothing donations
• Snacks and ready-to-eat food
• Monetary donations

To donate:

Or make a cheque payable to:

Please include in the memo:
Emergency Response – Spadina Avenue Apartment Fire

** Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. **

As these families begin finding a roof over their heads, COMMUNITY ANGELS, together with TYDEL FOODS, will provide them with food for an entire month so they can focus on rebuilding their lives and getting back on their feet.

If you have a rental home, apartment, basement suite, or any available housing that could help one of these displaced families, please send me a private message. 604-316-6015

Finding safe housing is one of the most urgent needs right now and your kindness could make all the difference.

This is what God’s work looks like

not one person doing everything, but an entire community coming together as one, caring for one another with compassion, generosity and love.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, donated, volunteered, prayed, or simply shown up when it mattered most. Together, we will respond, we will rebuild and we will remind these families that they are not alone.

A heartfelt thank you to Christine, Tami and John for responding immediately and volunteering your evening to help the victims and support the firefighters during last night’s devastating apartment fire. Your willingness to step forward without hesitation reflects the very best of our community. In a time of crisis, your compassion, kindness and dedication brought comfort and hope to those who needed it most.
