You are not precious in God's sight because you believed. You believed because you are precious in God's sight. God chose his people before creation as his precious treasures, and faith is the fruit of that, not the ground of it.

It is common for the Christian to be confident after good days and cowering after bad days, because somewhere along the way they have come to believe that their acceptance before God depends on their own performance. It does not. Acceptance with God depends upon the one who has only ever been acceptable before God: the Lord Jesus Christ, perfect in his righteousness. "Christ has done perfectly, therefore God loves you in him", and it is not your conducting that commends you to God or grounds your ongoing acceptance.

OF ADOPTION
"To all those that are justified... is given that they are made partakers of the grace of adoption."

Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), Chapter 12, Paragraph 1

Romans 8:15 - "You have received the Spirit of adoption as sons."
John 1:12 - "To all who did receive him... he gave the right to become children of God."

Paul's word for men in 1 Timothy 2:8 means males. It means those who grow beards, those who have different sexual organs than women, those who God made to govern in the church and lead in the home. The creational distinctions behind Paul's word are not incidental to his command; they are the reason for it.
