Today after Maghrib Insha Allah

Sometimes, it feels incredibly difficult raising our children in this part of the world… the challenges, the environment, the influences around them.

As parents, we worry. We wonder if we’re doing enough, if we’re guiding them the right way, if we’re protecting their Deen while helping them navigate this society.

But then we ask… how did Muhammad ﷺ raise his children?

What was his approach as a father?

What can we learn from him that is practical for our lives today?

A much-needed discussion on tarbiyyah, love, balance, and prophetic guidance in raising children.

REMINDER

TOMORROW is the Day of Arafah.

REMEMBER to FAST. The promise of the Prophet صَلَی اللهُ عَلَیه و آلِه و سَلَّم is that fasting on this day is means of forgiveness for the prior and upcoming years. TWO Years of forgiveness for ONE day of fasting.

REMEMBER to make DUA. Make dua for yourself, for your family, for YOUR masjid, for our community, for Gaza, for Sudan, for Lebanon, for Burma, for East Turkestan (the Uyghurs), for wherever in the world that the innocent are being persecuted, oppressed and killed.

REMEMBER to give SADAQA.

REMEMBER to start the TAKBEERAT of TASHRIQ after every Fard Salah (starting tomorrow at Salatul Fajr).

May Allah SWT guide and accept from us All! Ameen!

What is the Qur’an to us… really?

A book we kiss and place high on a shelf?
A book we open only when someone returns to Allah?
A book we recite… but never truly listen to?

Or is it a message… from Allah… to *you*?

Every ayah… Allah speaking.
Every word… meant to guide *your life*.
Every page… calling you back.

And yet… how many of us have actually stopped to understand what our Rabb is saying to us?

The Qur’an wasn’t revealed just to be recited…
It was revealed to be *felt*.
To be *understood*.
To be *lived*.

Starting today at Southwest Masjid (Calgary), we begin something special.

A weekly Tafsir session every Saturday after Maghrib Salah.

A journey through the Qur’an… one Juz at a time.
Reflecting on selected verses.
Listening… truly listening… to the message of Allah.

Come… reconnect with the Qur’an.
Not just with your tongue… but with your heart.

Don’t let this be another moment you let pass.

Eid al-Adha reminds us of the values of faith, sacrifice, generosity, and unity. As we gather in celebration, may we continue to support one another and work together toward a more caring and inclusive community for all.

More than just a summer camp – IlmQuest is where Muslim youth grow in their deen, character, physical fitness, and math and science reasoning and skills.

After an extremely successful first year, we’re excited to bring IlmQuest back for Summer 2026!

At IlmQuest, students will take part in:

🕋 Quran and Islamic Education
🤼 Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (boys) / Karate and Self-Defence (girls)
🧠 Math through proofs, intuition, and discovery
🔬Science experiments connected to theory
🪵Special Thursday field trips and workshops taught by real experts, including carpentry, cybersecurity, cake decorating, and more!

If you’re looking for a meaningful and exciting Islamic environment where your child can learn math and science not taught in school, learn wrestling & Brazilian jiu-jitsu/Karate & self-defence from experienced, highly qualified coaches, and engage in hands-on workshops taught by experts, IlmQuest is for you.
