The Shocking Scene at Street Church in Calgary! With Pastor Artur Pawlowski
For many years, we have observed the horrors of street life: homelessness, violence, poverty, and pain. What people are willing to do to each other is terrifying. Bitterness, unforgiveness, and anger consume them. They are broken people who keep breaking themselves and those around them.
A lifestyle devoid of hope or real love. A life without a future. We have seen it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Many have chosen to drown their existence in hate, drugs, and alcohol. Not even one day at a time—one hour at a time."
We have been working with the homeless and the poor for the past 27 years. We walked away from the business realm to assist those whom most people don’t even want to look at. It was a choice that changed our lives forever. We were called to be the Light in the darkness! We consider it the greatest privilege to be able to represent our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on the streets of our cities—to be His hands, to be His mouthpiece, and to give Hope and His Life.
However, the level of misery and evil that we observe on the streets at times can be overwhelming. Those moments remind us how much we need the strength and power of Jesus in our lives and in our ministry!
In recent years, we have observed that drugs (such as fentanyl and other chemicals given to the homeless) are literally turning them into the living dead—like human zombies. Broken bodies, twisted backs, minds that are not quite there.
There have been thousands of overdoses and many people have died. Our team on the streets is carrying Naloxone kits and regularly assisting those who are slipping into eternity.
Last Sunday, I was able to record one of those rescue interventions. Two men were unresponsive, not breathing! Two men were dying in front of our very eyes! The team stepped in! Two injections each of Naloxone were needed. Lives were saved!
God has given those two some more time to choose Him and Eternity with Him. Will they take it? I do not know; however, at least they have a few more hours, maybe a few more days to make that choice. As long as they are alive, there is hope!
That is why we are there! In public! Visible! For all to see and hear, and for them to know that there is a different life available to them if they would only say yes to Jesus! A life filled with peace, love, and joy—without hate, drugs, alcohol, poverty, abuse, and misery! A life with God! A life of freedom!
Thank you, volunteers, for what you do! Thank you for caring! Thank you for being on the streets without shame, representing the King of kings! Great is your reward in Heaven! God is well pleased with you all! Thank you for representing Him so well!
Be blessed!
