SUNDAY SERVICE IN PICTURES

Why Many Believers Struggle to Hear God

There are several common barriers.

1. Spiritual Noise

Life is full of distractions:
• social media
• constant activity
• emotional stress

God’s voice is often quiet, so noise makes it harder to hear.

🔥🔥🔥SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT AND HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD🔥🔥🔥

Let us go very deep into the subject of spiritual discernment and hearing the voice of God, because the spiritual side of Christianity is largely about relationship and communication with God. Many believers love God but struggle to recognize how He speaks.

1. God Is a Speaking God

From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals Himself as a God who communicates.

Scripture

John 10:27 (NKJV)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

Jesus did not say some sheep. He said My sheep hear My voice.

This means hearing God is not reserved for:
• prophets only
• pastors only
• special believers

It is part of normal Christian life.

However, the challenge is recognizing His voice.

2. The Three Main Ways God Speaks

God can speak in many ways, but most believers experience Him through three primary channels.

1. Through the Word of God

The Bible is the primary voice of God.

Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true.”

The Holy Spirit often illuminates a scripture during prayer or reading.

For example:

You may read a verse many times, but suddenly it becomes alive and personal.

This is called revelation.

Scripture

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

“For the word of God is living and powerful…”

The Word does not only inform the mind; it speaks to the spirit.

2. Through the Inner Witness

The most common way God leads believers is through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture

Romans 8:16 (NKJV)

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”

The Holy Spirit communicates through inner impressions or convictions.

It may feel like:
• a deep peace
• a gentle warning
• a strong conviction
• a sense of direction

For example:

You may feel uneasy about a decision even if it looks good logically.

That can be the Spirit warning your spirit.

3. Through the Still Small Voice

God sometimes speaks through a gentle inner voice.

Scripture

1 Kings 19:12 (NKJV)

“After the fire, a still small voice.”

God’s voice is usually:
• calm
• gentle
• peaceful

It rarely comes with pressure or confusion.

3. The Difference Between God’s Voice, Your Thoughts, and the Enemy

One of the greatest spiritual skills is discernment.

1. God’s Voice

God’s voice produces:
• peace
• clarity
• conviction without condemnation

Scripture

James 3:17 (NLT)

“The wisdom from above is first of all pure… peace loving, gentle…”

2. Your Own Thoughts

Your mind produces thoughts based on:
• experiences
• emotions
• reasoning

These thoughts are usually neutral and analytical.

3. The Enemy’s Voice

The enemy speaks through:
• accusations
• fear
• condemnation
• confusion

Revelation 12:10 (NKJV)

“The accuser of our brethren…”

God convicts; the enemy condemns.

Conviction leads to repentance and growth.
Condemnation leads to shame and discouragement.|
