In action since 1883, ESA is Christian organisation that works in partnership with communities, individuals, families, organisations and local churches. Though the scope of the work of ESA is broad and diverse, the one thing that is at the heart of each activity is to see lives transformed by Christ. Our teams have been working in overdrive this week to get everything ready for our first two Winter Camps. From choosing the songs and packing their costumes, to praying for their campers and putting the finishing touches on some pretty amazing games, the energy is high! ⁠

In 1983, a quiet young girl came to an ESA camp. By the end of the week, she had written a note that simply said: "I love Jesus and go to church. Thank you for forgiving my sins and coming into my life." ⁠

The man sharing this story, Macka, is her father. ⁠
⁠
His daughter went on to become an ESA leader herself, living a quiet but profoundly impactful life. Tragically, she passed away a few years ago. It was only after she passed that her parents received cards from people pouring out how much she had helped them during her time as a camp leader. ⁠
⁠
A man who had served on a mission trip with her told her parents: "She gave the most powerful testimony I have ever heard." ⁠
⁠
A life that touched so many others all started because she went to camp, and a leader gently took the time to point her toward Jesus. ⁠
⁠
The impact of an ESA camp doesn't end when camp ends — it echoes into eternity. ⁠
⁠

Sometimes, the most life-changing moments at camp happen in the quiet, passing conversations. ⁠

One year, a teenager pulled Macka (an ESA pastoral worker from a few years back) aside and asked a heavy question: ⁠
⁠
"If I mess up... will God just wipe me off?" ⁠
⁠
Macka was able to sit with him and explain that God's love isn't based on our performance, but on Jesus. That one quiet chat changed everything. That teenager kept coming back to camp, stepped into leadership, and is now deeply involved in his own church. ⁠
⁠
