I am a Sethite with anyone believing in the Nephilim being from the seed of fallen angels has just got it plain wrong.

The Nephilim remain as one of the most debated and mysterious groups in the Old Testament.

Genesis 6:1–4 gives only a brief description, yet the passage has generated centuries of interpretation because it stands at a crucial moment in biblical history. It appears immediately before the flood narrative, when human wickedness had multiplied on the earth and the created order was being deeply corrupted.

The text says that the “sons of God” saw that the “daughters of man” were beautiful and took them as wives. Their union is connected with the appearance of the Nephilim, described as “mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.”

The passage does not give every detail we may want, but it does show us enough to understand the larger theological problem: the world before the flood was marked by rebellion, corruption, violence, and a rejection of God’s created order.

There are two major interpretive views regarding the identity of the “sons of God.”

The first view understands the “sons of God” as fallen angels or rebellious heavenly beings. This interpretation is supported by the way the phrase “sons of God” is used elsewhere in the Old Testament, especially in Job, where it refers to heavenly beings.

Jude 1:6 also speaks of angels who “did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling,” which many interpreters connect to Genesis 6. In this view, Genesis 6 describes a serious boundary-crossing rebellion in which spiritual beings violated God’s order, contributing to the corruption of humanity before the flood.

The second view understands the “sons of God” as the godly line of Seth, while the “daughters of man” refer to the ungodly line of Cain or humanity in rebellion. According to this view, the passage describes covenant compromise.

The line that was supposed to preserve faithfulness to God intermarried with those who rejected Him, leading to widespread spiritual decline. This interpretation emphasizes moral and covenantal corruption rather than angelic rebellion.

Both views attempt to take seriously the context of Genesis.

The fallen-angel view highlights cosmic rebellion and the transgression of created boundaries. The Sethite view highlights spiritual compromise and the breakdown of covenant faithfulness. While faithful interpreters have differed on the details, the central theological message is clear: humanity had become deeply corrupted, and rebellion against God had spread through the ancient world.

The Nephilim, then, should not be treated as a mere curiosity or fantasy topic. The passage is not given to satisfy speculation. It is placed in Scripture to show the severity of corruption before the flood. The ancient world was not simply morally weak; it was violently disordered. God’s good creation was being twisted. Human identity, worship, marriage, power, and authority were being distorted by rebellion.

This matters because Genesis 6 follows the promise of Genesis 3:15. After the fall, God promised that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent. From that point onward, Scripture traces the conflict between the serpent and the promised seed. The enemy seeks to corrupt, destroy, deceive, and oppose the line through which redemption will come. Genesis 6 shows the ancient world descending into such corruption that only judgment and preservation could answer it.

Yet God preserved the line of the seed.

The flood was not only judgment against wickedness. It was also preservation. Through Noah, God protected the human line through which His promise would continue. The rebellion of the ancient world did not cancel Genesis 3:15. The corruption of humanity did not overcome the faithfulness of God. The serpent could rage, but the promised seed would still come.

This points us directly to Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the ultimate, uncorrupted Seed of the woman. He entered the world through true humanity, yet without sin. In Him, human nature was not twisted by rebellion, defiled by corruption, or enslaved to the serpent. He was fully human as humanity was meant to be: obedient to the Father, pure in heart, faithful in love, and undefiled by evil.

Where the ancient world corrupted God’s order,
Christ restored it.

Where humanity rebelled, Christ obeyed.
Where the serpent deceived, Christ conquered.
Where sin defiled our identity, Christ made us children of God.

At the cross, Jesus crushed the head of the serpent. He did not defeat evil by becoming like it, but by offering Himself in perfect righteousness. He bore the judgment of sinners, broke the power of sin and death, and rose victorious. The promised Seed survived every attempt of darkness to destroy the line of redemption, and in the fullness of time, He came to save His people.

The Nephilim passage is ultimately not about fascination with giants or speculation about ancient beings. It is about the seriousness of rebellion and the faithfulness of God to protect His promise. The world may become corrupt, but God preserves His redemptive purpose. Evil may attempt to distort human identity, but Christ restores it. The serpent may seek to corrupt the seed, but the true Seed has come and has conquered.

For us, believers today, this study gives both warning and hope.

The warning is that rebellion against God always distorts what it touches. It corrupts worship, identity, relationships, power, and community. Sin does not merely break rules; it deforms humanity.

But the hope is greater: in Christ, our true identity is restored. We are no longer defined by the corruption of the old world. Through the uncorrupted Son, we are made children of God. We are cleansed, adopted, and brought into a new humanity under the lordship of Jesus.

The Nephilim reflected the rebellion of the ancient world.
But God conserved the line of the Seed.

And in Jesus Christ, that Seed has come, not merely to survive the rebellion, but to crush the serpent, redeem the fallen, and restore the children of God to an undefiled inheritance.

A PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

IS YOUR FAITH AND CHURCH A RESIDENCE FOR BIRTHING, TRAINING, & EQUIPPING SOLDIERS OF CHRIST OR IS IT A VERY COMFORTABLE HALF-WAY ENTERTAINMENT HOUSE?

Before I share this urgent prophetic message to the body of Christ – LET ME SAY THIS!

THIS MESSAGE IS NOT A “CHEAP” POTSHOT AT THE BROADER CHURCH COMMUNITY.

NEITHER IS IT SPECIFICALLY AIMED AT ONE CHURCH, EVEN THOUGH THE EVENT THAT I MENTION IS TIED TO A SPECIFIC CHURCH.

THIS PROPHETIC MESSAGE IS A CALL TO EVERYONE IN THE BRIDE OF CHRIST AND IN THE CHURCH COMMUNITY THAT YOU & I NEED TO BE MORE LIKE CHRIST, EMBRACE THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND BE MUCH BETTER IN REPRESENTING GOD.

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain”
– Exodus 20:7 ESV

This Scripture is really talking about how an individual and the church corporately represent God.

Do we present God in the right way or wrong way?

In the last week it has come to my attention that a person who was known as a “Christian” and I believe a regular church-goer committed su***de.

The su***de was attributed to a form of depression.

I acknowledge the sensitivity of these circumstances and understand how easily one’s intentions might be misconstrued as indifference. I wish to state clearly that I am deeply affected by this loss. My prayers are with the spouse and family for their comfort and health. It is my sincere hope that, through this moment of death, a path toward divine peace, prosperity, and spiritual wholeness will be found for all who remain.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”
- John 1:1-5

This Scripture from the Gospel of John is probably my most favourite from the Bible in this present time and season.

John 1:14 reveals that the Word is Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ or Messiah of the world. He is both fully God and fully human as a man. Everything created naturally was made through Jesus and not made without Him. This means that everything naturally created including human life itself is intrinsically or essentially interlinked with him – Jesus is to be a part of the innermost nature of a person as we come from Him and have been created “through” Him. It is the very life essence of Jesus Christ that produces light in humanity. It is only the light of Christ that can shine in the darkness & overcome it!

IT IS THE VERY ESSENCE OF JESUS CHRIST THAT PRODUCES LIGHT IN US. SO, IT IS AS A BELIEVER IN JESUS AND FOLLOWER OF HIM, THAT HIS LIGHT SHINES THROUGH US TO OVERCOME THE PRESENT DARKNESS IN OUR WORLD!!!

Humanity has no means of producing true life without God intrinsically involved.

God is essential to you & I truly being “happy”.

So, why would a “Christian” then commit su***de?

I am convicted of two things in answer to this question –

i. Relationship with God; and

ii. The involvement of the Church Community in a Believer’s Life, Particularly its Leadership.

i. RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ [9] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith- [10] that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, [11] that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead”
- Philippians 3:8-11

Paul the Apostle has in the verses from Philippians 3:7-16 what I pronounce as the theme of Christianity – Denial of “Self” and the “laying down” of self in order to know God through Jesus Christ, sharing in the power of Christ’s resurrection, His sufferings and death, in order to attain eternal life with God.

In modern times, grace or God’s favour is espoused or consistently promoted without responsibility, but friend, the grace of God only comes by continuously denying and laying down yourself at the foot of the cross of Christ!

IT IS ONLY BY “PRESENTLY” OR CURRENTLY KNOWING GOD THAT HIS LIFE AND LIGHT PE*****TE THE DARKNESS THAT IS PRESENT IN OUR MORTAL BODIES

A person that commits su***de then has fallen to the wiles of “self” or “the flesh”, and also to the whim of the Devil and his hordes.

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please Him who enlisted him as a soldier”
- 2 Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV

There is a huge issue within the broader “Church” community and that is it views itself as a half-way entertainment house.

A halfway house is a living environment that supports recovery for people transitioning out of drug and/or alcohol rehab, mental health treatment, and/or incarceration. Particularly for those fresh out of addiction treatment, familiar environments, friends, and family members can present stressors that can hinder recovery efforts. Transitioning from treatment into a halfway house may offer the necessary space and time away from these triggers to promote recovery.

Furthermore, in stating entertainment I mean that many Churches have become more about their programs, singing and music they call “Worship”, and many of them have this “Café” culture where it’s also about the social aspects surrounded with a great coffee, conversation, laugh’s, a little bit of charity work, social care, and outings thrown into the mix.

The problem with all of this halfway house & entertainment cultural mentality is that it isn’t what the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is primarily created and designed for.

Ephesians 4:7-16 tell us who established the Church, who is to lead the Church, and what the purposes of the Church is –

i. Jesus Christ establishes the Church;
ii. Jesus chooses the Church leadership and provides it a measure of Himself in order to build it; and
iii. Jesus’ chosen leadership matures the Church to be ready for Him and the judgement to come.

Yes, there is a need for the church to care for people & entertain them to a degree, but again this is not the primary purpose for the Church.

The New Testament refers to believers in Jesus several times as “soldiers”.

In the Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37:1-14 we find that it ends with this –

“Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘The Lord God says this: “Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, so that they come to life.”’” [10] So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. [11] Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the entire house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’ [12] Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “Behold, I am going to open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. [13] Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people. [14] And I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken and done it,” declares the Lord’”
- Ezekiel 37:9-14 NASB

Two key things that I want to point out from this Scripture are:

a. The group of people are an exceedingly great army; and
b. The army cannot live & exist without the breath of the Holy Spirit!

In a New Testament context, the dry bones are the modern church – an exceedingly great army that is nothing without the life of the Holy Spirit.

So, what is in an army?

Soldiers.

Church – We are supposed to be an army of soldiers – AI presents soldiers as this –

“Soldiers are characterised by a blend of mental and physical fortitude, unwavering discipline, and a deep commitment to duty, integrity, and teamwork. Key attributes include resilience under pressure, loyalty to country and peers, courage, and the ability to adapt to high-stress environments, often guided by core values such as honour, selflessness, and respect”.

The Scripture says, “Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: [2] My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me”
- Psalm 144:1-2 KJV

See, this ancient Jew, Psalmist and warrior, King David, knew where his being and success stemmed from – The Lord God.

So too must we realise like our ancient forebearers of Christ – That the Lord is our strength, creator, nurturer, sustainer, goodness, blessing, prosperity, defender, and destroyer.

“For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring’”
- Acts 17:28 NLT

The “fighter spirit” grounded in the life of God is a common theme in our faith, yet a difficult question remains: Where was that spirit for the believer who felt their only refuge was to leave this world? If that heart is not found in the broader Church community, where does it dwell? If this motivation is not visible in our leadership, how can it be felt in the pews? We must ask where this resolve is being spoken - not as a theory, but as a lifeline - from the pulpit to the broken-hearted.

I AM CONVINCED THAT THERE IS A DISCONNECT IN THE WIDER CORPORATE CHURCH WITH THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CHRISTIANITY – KNOWING GOD IN A TRULY INTIMATE SENSE, EXPERIENCING AND MINISTERING HOLY SPIRIT RESURRECTION POWER, DYING TO SELF, ENDURING, FIGHTING WITH HUMILITY, AND BEING LIKE JESUS IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.

On the subject of fighting with humility, Scripture implores us –

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh, [4] for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. [5] We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, [6] and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete”
- 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NASB

Where, then, is this level of spiritual discipline and warfare being instructed or implemented? In an era where the modern Church often feels more like a curated cultural experience than a hospital and training ground for the soul, we must ask ourselves a hard truth: has the “destruction of fortresses” been traded for the comfort of a latte-sipping, skinny-jean, café-cultured aesthetic?

When our gatherings prioritise the atmosphere of a music concert over the raw, resurrecting power of the Holy Spirit, we risk losing the very weapons needed for the battle. I ask this with a heavy but hopeful heart: How can a culture of convenience ever equip the broken-hearted with the “divinely powerful” resolve required for their very survival?

ii. The involvement of the Church Community in a Believer’s Life, Particularly its Leadership.

Do you know how many people in Church life I could count as true friends?

Honestly, less than a handful.

Oh, you might be in a large Church and think that you have plenty of friends.

But I am talking about real Holy Spirit, Tongue talking, Jesus freaks!

Not the mates that enjoy going out with you even to the bar for a beer!

Yes, I recall going out for dinner with my wife and seeing two Christian men who I knew from the past, sitting there sipping on several schooners of beer. Were they talking about the Lord? Are they hungry for the things of God? Are they consecrated vessels for Him?

I have been saved for almost 40 years now. Back in the late 1980’s, Ministers did not drink alcohol but today at least 75% or more of Christian ministers drink alcohol unashamedly!

ALCOHOL IN MANY RESPECTS IS EMBRACED IN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

BUT MOST MINISTERS OF CHURCHES REJECT THE TRUE “SPIRIT”.

“Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit”
- Ephesians 5:18 NLT

What relevance does this have to the prophetic word here?

The Church that this person attended who died from un-Godly means was formerly led by a minister who I saw and heard online through the week spruik something along the lines of this –

“Pastor you’ve spent a quarter of a million dollars on your church foyer but it isn’t growing your church you have found. So, let me show you, according to the model that I know, how to grow your church and have it busy 7 days a week”.

Where is God mentioned in those words? Where is the deep impact of the Holy Spirit in that ministers life? Where is true discipleship and Godly leadership revealed in those words?

“Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, [2] “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should the shepherds not feed the flock? [3] You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat sheep without feeding the flock. [4] Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed, the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you searched for the lost; but with force and with violence you have dominated them. [5] They scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every animal of the field and scattered. [6] My flock strayed through all the mountains and on every high hill; My flock was scattered over all the surface of the earth, and there was no one to search or seek for them.”’” [7] Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: [8] “As I live,” declares the Lord God, “certainly, because My flock has become plunder, and My flock has become food for all the animals of the field for lack of a shepherd, and My shepherds did not search for My flock, but rather the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock, [9] therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: [10] ‘This is what the Lord God says: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand My sheep from them and make them stop tending sheep. So the shepherds will not feed themselves anymore, but I will save My sheep from their mouth, so that they will not be food for them.”’”
- Ezekiel 34:1-10 NASB

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”
- Galatians 2:20 NLT

It is my strong conviction that this tragedy is the direct result of a church culture that prizes human strategy over Spirit-led authority. My heart tells me this person was part of a church that chooses the blueprints of man over the leading of God - a place where the “model” is busy and the foyers may be impressive, but the shepherds have forgotten the fundamental mandate to truly search for the lost and bind up the broken.

When Church ministers and “shepherds” build on man’s methods instead of the crucified life of Galatians 2:20, we leave the flock vulnerable to the very scattering the Lord warned against in Ezekiel. We must realise that a church built on the “I” of human ingenuity, rather than the life of Christ, possesses no true power to sustain a soul in their hour of greatest need.

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen-the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's new creation: [15] "I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! [16] But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! [17] You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. [18] So I advise you to buy gold from me-gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. [19] I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. [20] “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. [21] Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. [22] “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”
- Revelation 3:14-22 NLT

LET ME FINALISE THIS PROPHETIC EXHORTATION WITH THIS –

THIS MESSAGE IS NOT ABOUT TAKING “POTSHOTS” AT THE BROADER CHURCH COMMUNITY INCLUDING CHRISTIAN MINISTERS.

THIS MESSAGE IS ABOUT THE FACT THAT AS THE REPRESENTATIVES OF JESUS CHRIST IN A WORLD FILLED WITH DARKNESS WE NEED TO BE AND DO BETTER.

THE CHURCH MUST RESIGN FROM BEING “CORPORATE” & IMPERSONAL TO BEING A LIVING PERSONAL ORGANISM OF GOD HIMSELF.

MY HEART BREAKS FOR THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THIS HORRIFIC EVENT AND INCREDIBLY SAD MOMENT.

BUT WE ALL MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AS CHRISTIANS TO AWAKEN, ACTIVATE, AND ALERT EVERYONE AROUND US THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK FOR A BRIDE THAT IS WITHOUT SPOT, WRINKLE, OR BLEMISH (Ephesians 5:27).

ARE YOU READY FOR THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST?

Yours Sincerely in Christ

Bethel Church leaders have publicly acknowledged serious failures in their handling of allegations against prophetic minister Shawn Bolz, following a detailed investigation that accused him of fraudulent prophetic practices and sexual misconduct. In a joint statement, senior leaders Bill Johnson, Kris Vallotton, Dann Farrelly, and Danny Silk admitted they failed to act decisively after receiving reports of sexual harassment and evidence that Bolz used social media to obtain personal information presented as divine revelation.
“We take responsibility for the fact that we did not properly and fully bring discipline, closure, or clear and timely communication regarding the gravity of our concerns with Shawn Bolz,” the leaders wrote, noting that Bolz had been platformed at Bethel until 2019. They added, “We have hurt and scared people because we did not tell the truth enough, early enough, long enough, or loud enough, and this is a just criticism.”
The statement followed a nearly six-hour exposé by Christian apologist Mike Winger, who described Bolz’s prophetic ministry as “ultimately a gimmick” and accused Bethel leadership of knowing about allegations for years. Vallotton later admitted that privately distancing Bolz in 2020 without public disclosure was “a major mistake,” saying, “We should have told our church and wider community… That was wrong.”
Bethel leaders said they no longer endorse Bolz or his ministry and urged others to consider their position. They also announced new accountability measures, including a Safe Church reporting system. Johnson acknowledged his own failure, saying, “It was incredibly careless. I realize now that I contributed to their trauma, and I am deeply grieved by this and am sorry.” Bolz has not responded to requests for comment and is reportedly on sabbatical.
