A fantastic crowd came together for our Impact Uganda Fundraising Dinner last night at the Qld Cricketers Club! It was a really special night as we heard about Impact's history starting from a couple of ordinary people responding to mother's need, and its growth to annual sponsorship of 216 children today, ranging from nursery through primary and secondary to tertiary studies.

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Child sponsorship gives real hope for every child, as well as transforming their family, school and the community.

We still need more funds to reach our $20,000 fundraising goal for 2026. You can be part of this impact through a tax-deductible donation. Link in comments.

Or become a sponsor and provide a future for a child in Uganda. Contact details in comments.

Pope Leo's prayer intention for October has been for mental health ministry. We all know people who struggle with anxiety, depression or other mental health issues. This may include ourselves.

"May our Church be an open house, a safe space where everyone has a place - a community that accompanies and never excludes, listens without judging and draws near without fear."

Let's take a moment to join Pope Leo in his prayer.

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

Today we remember the children who died during pregnancy or infancy, and hold in prayer every parent and family living with their loss.

To those who carry this grief: We hold you and your family in prayer. Whether you speak about your baby often or carry their memory quietly, we honour the love you hold for them and ask God to bring you comfort.

We invite you to light a candle today in remembrance, or take a quiet moment to pray for a family you know.

Loving God, hold close all who grieve. Bring comfort in their sorrow, and help us to listen with gentleness and walk alongside them with love. We entrust their precious children to your care. Amen.

What a joy to gather this morning with 15 couples who are in their first 10 years marriage or preparing for marriage. We shared stories, laughs and lessons over a delicious breakfast, and looked at the blessings of Christian marriage and sharing life together.

Let’s keep these and all families in our prayers as we live out the mission of marriage and family life in today’s world.

Congratulations to Fr David Callaghan, elected as the new Moderator for the Missionaries of God’s Love!

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you as you lead the MGLs through this next season 🔥 🕊️

The Missionaries of God's Love priests and brothers have elected Fr David Callaghan as their new leader, Moderator, for the next four years. Originally from Perth, Fr David has been a member of the MGL for 26 years. He is currently the Parish Priest at Holy Spirit Parish in Darwin. This transition of leadership has been gratefully accepted by Fr Stephen Fletcher, who is very confident that Fr David is well equipped to take the congregation forward for the next four years.

The priests and brothers of the MGL now continue in their time together as they seek to respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as they live out their particular charism in the Church and the world today. Now in their 40th year, the MGL have missions in Canberra, Melbourne, Darwin and Sydney, the Philippines and Indonesia. Dedicated to preaching the Love of God expressed through the Cross of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, they have a particular focus on ministry to the young, the marginalised, and to building and forming faith communities as missionary disciples.

With over 40 priests and perpetually vowed brothers and over 30 young men in formation, Fr David steps into the role of Moderator at a time of great promise for the MGL and the Church as a whole.
