What makes a great mentor?
Connection, empathy and a willingness to serve others.

Recently, the Blue Crew led Concordia's Year 10 students in a leadership training camp, taking the first steps towards their future role as mentors for incoming Year 7 students.

Team challenges, collaboration, reflection & workshops, students explored what it means to lead with empathy, compassion and purpose. The experience brought challenge to grow as communicators and role models, while developing skills to support younger students in transition.

Leadership extends beyond traditional Year 11 and Year 6 leadership pathways - It's everywhere. At LYQ, we strive to to show all students they are leaders and can make a positive impact in their community.

Legacy and Collaboration in Action l

What a special way to finish LYQ Pitstop Leaderships sessions with Years 11 and 12 Student Leaders at Faith Lutheran College - Plainland 🙌

We gathered together in the Legacy Gift Garden from Year 12 2015 and reflected on the impact of collaboration through open doors of Lutheran Church in Queensland - LCANZ ministries in finalising plans for the Faith Festival 🎪

We’re so grateful for our partnership with the Wellbeing and Ministry staff at Faith and look forward to supporting australianlutheranworldservice and R U OK Day at the Faith Festival in Week 10 Term 3 with the whole Faith community 💙

COOLUM B CLW 2026 🤠

Coolum B ventured into the Wild West this year, but they discovered a familiar comfort of friendship, laughter, and growth. Smiles all round in the perfect balance of joy in wide games and card games (although they definitely got their steps in walking up hills) and being quiet in prayer & worship, devoting time connecting with God and their individual faith journeys. Have a read of the campers moment of gold this year ->

“Camp has kept faith the centre of my life in my high school years and given me some of the most incredible friendships. Thank you for supporting camps, it’s making such a difference jn people’s lives.”

“Feeling so loved and known at camp has made me feel more like myself and being more confident in who I am.”

“I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to build connections and friendships and grow stronger in my faith.”

“Getting to bond with new people through challenges such as high ropes was such a highlight for me.”

“I loved that worship was a time I could talk and worship God, it felt like such a wholesome space.”

“Quiet time gave me a chance to reflect and I was then able to have leaders and my friends help me unpack that more.”

“I came on camp feeling like for the first time I didn’t want to be here. I feel like the leaders saw this and gave me space to talk and space to be how I was. This impacted me greatly and my whole week and perspective was changed.”

“When u first started coming I was afraid of heights, now all my trust is in Jesus.”

“Meeting new people and getting to build relationship with like minded people who share similar values and who I may not have ever met without camp.”

“Everyone at camp is so kind and welcoming, they just let me be me. The community keeps growing every year.”

“Every single person on campus when they could see someone was left out or their energy was down would do their best to include them and lift their spirits.”

“Seeing how easy. It was for other campers to show their vulnerable selves really encouraged me to do the same and step out of my comfort zone.”

“CLW helped me grow in my confidence, new friendships and mostly my relationship with God. It me

🪐WINTER KIDS CAMP 2026 🔭

These little adventurers were having a marvellous time on kids camp as they explored the sky of winter kids camp ✨ A week spent unpacking Gods character and how we are his children, was an amazing week of growth for this crew. There were games galore of mystery and thrills, climbing to new heights on the Luther heights ropes activities and when theme night rolled in there were astronauts, aliens and NASA scientists in dozens! Take a scroll through the snapshots of the week!!

“I loved the town game we played because it was really fun to play with new friends I was making.”

“I felt so included by all the campers and leaders, just everyone who really made me feel cared for and was nice to me so I was able to make lots of new friends.”

“ I will remember that God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, loyal in love and faithful.”

“Our camp parents were awesome, they made me feel safe and at home.”

“I wish I could’ve played chair games forever.”

“Low ropes challenged my balance and it was really fun. I enjoyed working with good people at the same time.”

“I loved getting to do worship every day, my leaders were also helping me in growing with God and doing the right thing.”

“My new friends were there to help me when I was sad.”

“I felt confident on camp to be myself because no one was making fun of others, it felt so different to school.”

“I was nervous going up higher on the koala climb but I still went up and loved it.”

“The games were so much, these was something to do for everyone, so everybody got involved.”

“When I arrived at camp I didn’t know anyone and felt very scared to talk to others, but as the weeks went on I made friends and. Felt so much kore confident.”

“I got to try new things on camp and step out of my comfort zone.”

“This camp was so much fun, I’m so sad that it ended.”
