โจ Sunday Service Update โ Emmanuel: God With Us

๐ Matthew 1:23
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,โ which is translated, โGod with us."
- ๐ฟ This Sunday, we were reminded that God does not speak only to crowdsโHe speaks to individuals. You are not a number to God. He knows you by name and desires a personal relationship with you.
- ๐ค Emmanuel means God with us. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals God's desire to dwell with His people. In Jesus, God came among usโnot as a distant God, but as One who entered our human experience.
ยซโAnd the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.โ โ John 1:14ยป
- โ๏ธ Emmanuel is God's answer to our separation from Him through sin. Jesus came to save us, not to condemn us. Our salvation cannot be achieved through good works or human effortโit is found in Christ.
ยซโAnd she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.โ โ Matthew 1:21ยป
ยซโFor God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.โ โ John 3:17ยป
- ๐๏ธ We were encouraged that God understands our pain. Jesus experienced hunger, weariness, rejection, grief and betrayal. He is not disconnected from what we face.
ยซโFor we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses...โ โ Hebrews 4:15ยป
- ๐ฅ The message of Emmanuel was first spoken into a time of fear and crisis. Judah was surrounded by enemies, yet God told them not to panic. What looked powerful could not have the final word.
ยซโIt shall not stand, nor shall it come to pass.โ โ Isaiah 7:7ยป
ยซโIf you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.โ โ Isaiah 7:9ยป
- ๐ช God's promise is not always the absence of trouble; it is His presence in the middle of it. You may walk through the waters, the fire or the valleyโbut you do not walk through them alone.
ยซโWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with you... and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.โ โ Isaiah 43:2ยป
ยซโFear not, for I am with you...โ โ Isaiah 43:5ยป
- ๐ก๏ธ The presence of God gives us courage. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is knowing that God is with you even when there is something to fear.
ยซโAs I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.โ โ Joshua 1:5ยป
ยซโBe strong and of good courage; do not be afraid...โ โ Joshua 1:9ยป
- ๐ Like Moses, we were reminded that God's presence matters more than the destination, the resources or the blessing.
ยซโIf Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.โ โ Exodus 33:15ยป

Even when we cannot see God or understand what He is doing, His apparent silence does not mean His absence. He is with us in the waiting, in the valley, in the battle and on the mountaintop.
ยซโAnd lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.โ โ Matthew 28:20ยป
- ๐ The service closed with the beautiful assurance of Psalm 23: the valley is not the end, and the greatest question is not whether we will face a valley, but who will be with us in it.
ยซโThough I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me...โ โ Psalm 23:4ยป
ยซโSurely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life...โ โ Psalm 23:6ยป
๐น Take Action This Week
- Trust God's presence, even when you cannot see what He is doing.
- Do not allow fear to make your decisions. Choose faith.
- Remember that you are not aloneโGod is with you in every season.
- Keep moving forward. You may be in the valley, but you are passing through.
- Declare this over your life: โI do not walk alone. My God is EmmanuelโGod with me.โ
